5.0 out of 5 stars25mm plates with stop pins might all be identical, problem is finding a clamp they'll fit on neatly.
Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2020
There's several listings of these 25mm plates with stop pins, I have ones from Bestshoot and Fotasy, and they all appear mostly identical with slight manufacturing fluctuations.
There's also a few other 25mm plates with slightly different designs, some shorter, all without stop pins, but this isn't about them.

These are well-made enough, good for compact applications, the main 1/4-20 screw takes a 4mm hex (or flathead screwdriver), and the stop pins are removeable with 2.5mm hex.

The problem is finding a clamp that stays low profile and can take these plates as-is.
So far I've only found two (at B07TPS89PR and B07W1CLXY5 if you know how to enter Amazon URLs manually) that I can personally confirm are close to the same width of the plate, hold these plates centered, and clamp along the entire side of the plate. Unfortunately, they've been subjected to Amazon Product Churn and don't seem to be available unless you dig around on more... direct-from-source websites.
The fishbone style clamps don't have slots for stop pins, so they'd either have to be removed, or the plate has to be put in offset, with one stop pin in the clamp's screw hole and only part of the side being gripped. I don't like the sound of either of those.
I've also gotten one of the very common 38mm clamps which look like they'll work, but the stop pin slots are too wide apart by literally just a couple millimeters. It is possible to put the plate in offset, one stop pin in the clamp's screw hole again, while still clamping the entire edge of the plate, but this is already getting too wide for some of my use cases.
There are also some 25-26mm clamps on Amazon that look like they might work, but they're rather more expensive than the designs that I know work, and I'm not sure I want to bother with going through even more try-and-return processes.

3.0 out of 5 starsThe screw is non-standard size
Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2024
The plate fits fine in a standard arca style clamp. However, on the unit I was sent, the Allen screw for securing it to equipment is non-standard and will not fit a 1/4" socket. To use this, you will need to replace the screw with a standard sized one. Fortunately, I had some.

If it was usable as sent, I would have given 5-stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Convenient compact size for some specialized uses such as pocket cam and small LED light panels
Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2023

The price is good. The quality is just fine. The length and width are convenient for small stuff, like pocket cams and some LED lights. But the thickness is a tiny bit excessive for its intended use with small items (one star off for that). This plate is 11mm thick (with rubber pads, but not including the stop screws)! Typical is about 8mm. My RRS BPnS-A plate is square (mounts in A-S clamp either way) and only 6mm thick. That's what I use on my RX100mVII pocket cam. I've got some small LED lights (such as 4"x4" and 4"x6") that I use frequently for quick tabletop closeup shots. With convenient A-S screw-clamps on small ballheads on various Gorillapods and small tripods, it's easy to get the lights placed on the best tripod for the job in the compact space for shooting small objects. This tiny plate is perfect for those lights.

The tight space between the stops on this unusually small plate is not typical, but not a huge problem. I wouldn't expect my clamps to handle them. I simply removed the lower stop-screw and kept the top one. (Use a 3/32" hex key. If you don't have proper hex keys, buy the Hithut brand of this this plate that includes 2 hex keys. Or buy the Fotasy kit that includes this 25mm plate and their skinny screw-clamp.)

This plate is a bit shy on the standard A-S length. My RRS lever-clamp will not tighten it firmly. (I've got camera plates too BIG for the lever-clamp, but never had one too small. Interesting!) I use my RSS lever-clamp on my big ballheads for DSLRs, so the fact that this small plate doesn't work in it does not matter. All my A-S screw-clamps cinch this 25mm plate down tight. So I'm good.

The price and quality are quite reasonable for this unusually small (but useful) Arca-Swiss camera plate. If you've got a need for such a plate, I recommend it!

I put these little plates on everything I own that might end up on a tripod one day. e.g. pocket point and shoot cameras/digicams, LED lights, iPhone clamps, etc. All of my tripods have Arca Swiss ballheads and all my cameras have Arca Swiss plates permanently attached. For larger cameras I have bigger plates of course...

Recently I started to move from Manfrotto plates to Arca system. That move opened up a whole new world of convenience and options! This particular plate is awesome Arca plate which is great for point-and-click sized mirrorless cameras such as Sony ZV-1, which I have purchased recently for my Zoom/Webex calls to replace the horrible built-in webcam on my iMac (2019). I know 2020 iMac has a better camera but it's so flat and no field of depth etc. Anyway, this little Arca plate is great for small cameras. Strongly recommend? No, it's a must-have!

What you see in the Amazon ad is not watch you get. The plate does not have the non-slip pads shown. The screw that attaches it to your camera does not use an Allen Wrench hex but instead a flat blade screw-driver connector. The plate did not come with any hardware for attachment to the camera, so having to use a straight blade screw driver was a blessing. My BIG complaint was that the little set-screws that are used to keep your camera from sliding off your ACRA mount were mounted too high and would not allow the plate to sit on ball heads on either my Sirui tripod of my Neewer table-top tripod. I have used over 7 plates from other manufacures on these tripods and have never had this problem. Because the plate was not send with any hardware to adjust the plate AND I do not have an Allen Wrench to fit into the set screw, I do not know if I can adjust it's height. I will have to go to Home Depot and buy the appropriate wrench. If that does not work, I will have to grind the set screws down. Why not just return it??? It is the only plate I could find (at a reasonable price) that was narrow enough to fit well on my Lumix point and shoot without adding a bunch to the width of the pocket camera. I would NEVER use this plate on any of my three Nikon DSLR's or Nikon film cameras, but on my pocket camera it will be OK after I modify it. The aluminum that the plate was machined from and the machining were of good (not great) quality, but good enough for the price.

Update 3/19/21. I was able to get a 2.5 mm Allen wrench and the set screws are at their lowest position. I was able to remove them by simply screwing them out (so I did not have to grind them down). Even without the set-screws, the plate still does not sit on either of my ball-heads to allow complete closure with the ACRA jaws of my ball-heads. The plate itself is maybe about 0.5 to1 mm too thick. But it is sufficient for my use with a very light and small compact camera. I would NEVER recommend this plate with anything that is heavy (i.e. more than about a quarter of a pound). But hey, it costs $6 bucks. It was worth the gamble, to me, and will provide what I need for my needs.

4.0 out of 5 stars does the job

The two "safety stop" screws on the bottom of the plate get in the way of using this in an Arca mounting base (didn't work with the 2 bases I have), but they are removable with a 2mm allen wrench, NOT the one that is supplied. The idea behind the screws is sound, but they are too close together to work. Probably not a problem with the larger than 25mm plates.

Otherwise, it has the geometry to fit Arca plates, and seems to work fine. You'll want to semi-permanently mount this to the camera or whatever, since the larger mounting screw is only accessible via the allen wrench and not by hand.

4.0 out of 5 stars 25mm plate - Works well, apart from the anti-slip pegs.
Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2022

So I ordered the shortest plate (25mm) to use on a lens/body adapter (Viltrox EF lens to R body).

The plate seems reasonably well made, and it is just the right size to fit the adapter. I have two minor issues:

1) the 1/4" screw to mount the equipment is a hex hole, with a slot for a flat blade or coin. Almost all the other plates I have had a flip-up ring that could be used to tighten the screw. This will stay fixed to my adapter so not a big problem. If you want to swap it out frequently, carry the right Allen key with you. A coin does not work so well as the space is so small.

2) All Arca-Swiss plates have pins at the ends of the plate. So when you loosen the clamp it can't just slide out and drop your camera on the floor. This plate has these pins too, but there is less than 15mm between them! None of my AS clamps have the recesses close enough together for these to fit! The solution? Simply use a small hex wrench to remove one (or both) of these pegs and the plate mounts fine. Just take a bit more care when you unclamp your equipment!

So far I have not really used this, just checked that it will mount on my tripods O.K. So I can't speak to the long term reliability. But with one of the pegs removed it seems to be pretty secure.

After getting the 25mm plate I have come to the realization that fotasy plates suck. They suck because they are NOT designed to fit all arca receivers like my Desmond, Kessler, or Utebit plates are. They are ONLY designed to fit other Fotasy arca receivers. I've tried this and other Fotasy plates and it's the same results with all of them. Same thing with the Neewer plates they don't fit all receivers either. That said the plate is nicely constructed and I LOVE how it has the "slide locks" that prevent the plates from sliding off the arca receiver when adjusting position. HOWEVER, THAT is where this plate fails. Because it so thin (25mm) the slide locks DO NOT FIT on any receiver correctly. It pushes the plate up because the slide locks are too close together. I wanted a nice thin plate like my peak Design plates but that had the slide locks as the peak Design plates to have the slide locks. Now I know it's impossible to get proper universal slide locks with a 25mm plate it's simply not wide enough. So I would say sick with 40mm at the thinnest if you want a thin plate that can still use the slide locks. 25mm is just too short. And I'm sure it fits the Fotasy receiver it was designed for but it won't fit properly in any other receiver (especially my Kessler Kwik release.
