This kit has everything you need to make wine at home, however, that being said,the process is very complicated and the instructions very basic. It appears that they assume you already know what you're doing. The instructions need to be step by step for beginners. So I will either end up with some muscadine wine, or vinegar.

Good starter kit to get started into the world of wine making. Instructions are sparse, but lots of info online and good YouTube videos using this kit. Subtracted one star for not including a test flask for the hydrometor. Subtracted another because the screw cap did not fit my 1 gallon glass jug (threads mismatched).
In addition to this kit, I would recommend a wine thief, test flask for hydrometer (I bought a wine thief that can be used as test flask), and replacing the racking cane with a auto-siphon one.

This is a great kit but just a little deceiving on the product write up. It only came with 2 packets of Sanitizer which are good for 1 gallon of cleanser per packet. Even if you only made cleanser each time you made a 1 gallon batch of wine you would need 15 packets. But you also need sanitizer when racking and bottling so you will definitely need more sanitizer. Not a huge deal but I would change the product description to include that info so people can purchase more cleanser at the same time.

Reasonable Reviewer used to make homemade wine and beer with his family growing up.

So, I knew the basics. This kit does not come with all of the items that you might expect. For one thing, you will need to come up with some kind of fermentable juice. Most important, the kit (over $50 remember) did not come with any directions. I opened up everything. They simply were not there. Also, it was missing basic things like the degasser.

It came with a number of agents, e.g., finer, yeast, etc., but without instructions it would be very easy to get this very wrong.

This might be for an experienced vintner, but my gut says that this kit is not really for anyone, because different yeasts have different settle and ferment times, and there is no way to tell with this kit.

I cannot recommend it.

You will need a beaker to use the hydometer.

Didn't realize I'd need a beaker to use the hydrometer so was unable to use it for the first batch of wine. Also the red caps do not seal so the airlock will work. I can see that the wine is fermenting but the gas must be escaping through the screw cap or around the airlock as the airlock does not bubble. Also have to purchase sealable screw caps for bulk storage in the demijohn.

My wife has been growing grapes and decided that we should make wine. Neither one of us have ever made wine. After looking at all of the various vendors, I thought that this vendor’s wine making kit would be perfect. They claim that not only along with the equipment and additives, they also included an instruction booklet.

The booklet, was written in 1979. It did not describe the equipment that the vendor sent nor did they give explicit directions and menu about how to use their equipment to make the wine.

Ended up on YouTube for instructions.

This is a great kit for beginners. The book provides a nice overview of the process and what you need to do. There are about 20 recipes included, but you do have to follow the directions which are separate from the recipes which can get confusing until you get into the swing of making it. My only real complaint is that the plastic cap for the glass jug broke the first time I used it. I must have put it on too tight and noticed it about a week later. I have seen other kits that use stoppers which is what I bought to replace it. I would recommend getting your own stopper or looking for a kit that has that instead. Overall it is great to get started.
