For starters, we love the game. I have 3 girls ages 9, 7, & 3. The 9 & 7yo love the game, the quarky characters, and the simple premise. This game would be worth $20 for a deck of cards IF it were a deck of cards that could endure the treatment of children.

Not only that, but even when we first got the game, I did all of the card handling. Even when I was shuffling the new deck of cards, edges of the cards started peeling back during the simple shuffling process. Just within the first few games. Which seems easily avoidable since playing cards have been around for quite some time now. It's not new technology or anything.

My 7yo cheats, and peeled edges on cards can be used to cheat.

Choose a new printing service, and you'll get 5 stars from me. But charging us $20 for a poor quality product that costs so little to produce just seems like garbage business ethics.

I must say, this game is funny and a blast to play. I can see why it has so many positive reviews. We love it, and would give the game five stars except for two issues. The first is that it is simply a card game. Paying $20 for a deck of cards seems a bit steep to me. However, honestly, that wouldn't bother me as much if not for the second issue. The production quality of the cards are low. Most of the regular decks of cards I've played lasted longer than these. Within a few weeks, we were seeing wear on the cards that took some of the mystery out of what was in another players hands. Now, after about 20 games, every card is marked by wear on the edges. I would encourage the game developers to invest in a thicker card with a heavier wax like the ones many other card decks are made with. If you purchase the game, and you have a laminator, it may be wise to laminate before gameplay so the cards last a long time. If they do, it will be well worth having. It's a hilarious game to play!

I'm breaking this review down into two categories: Gameplay and Quality of Product.

Gameplay: Excellent. Really fun game that the entire family can play. As adults, we'd rather play this than a lot of other family style/card games. We also have a 13 year old, 6 year old and a 4 year old. Our older boy is the one who suggested it and it was a hit. Took about 2 open-hand games and 2 assisted games to get our 6 year old going, but after that he was good to go. Our 4 year old can even play on her own now after a couple weeks of watching and sitting with us...she really doesn't need much help.

There's definitely a strategy involved and each game is quite different. Where it can get tough, is if an older player is very strategic and the younger players are more basic (like most games). There's a lot more to it, than say Uno. Overall, for gameplay, it gets 5 STARS!

Quality of Product: This where the stars drop for me. First, for $20, I was expecting more than just a deck of cards. I didn't know what the game was but figured there would be more than just a deck in the box when I opened. In the end, I'm fine with the price. It's a great game. BUT, the quality of the cards is about as cheap as you can get.

We've had the game for a few weeks and played it quite a bit, but that cards are literally falling apart already. The corners are peeling apart a couple are ripped a little bit, just from normal shuffling. They're so floppy now, it's difficult to even shuffle them. Several cards are easy to pick out, based on the blemishes. This is especially tough when it comes to the Kitten or Defuse cards, the two most important sets of cards in the game. It changes everything if you can pick out a Kitten just by looking at the back side.

It sucks, because I would seriously consider buying the expansion pack but the difference in the cards will be so noticeable, I'm not sure it would be worth it. Pretty disappointing because, like I said, it's a great game....the quality of the cards is just so low. They really should be more laminated, like a good set of Bicycle cards or something, especially because it's not like you can just go out and quickly (and cheaply) pick up another deck. I'd rather have less packaging and better cards.

Soooo, yes, I would definitely recommend the game, just don't expect it to last too long.

This is the SFW version of a fairly fun game. Its very nature and content, with just how absurd it is is part of its charm and is sure to get at least a few laughs out of you and your friends playing. I would highly suggest that you buy a second copy of this though to extend your deck, especially if you are planning to play with more than one or two people at a time as it will really help to extend the length of the game. I would also suggest you purchase the expansion pack 'imploding kittens' for even more laughs.

Exploding Kittens is quite easily one of the most hilarious games I have played.

I purchased Exploding Kittens a while ago as a gift for my wife. We are huge gamers! (board games) .. I host a game night among friends twice a month at my house. My friends and I are constantly buying and playing new games to play and Exploding Kittens are quite entertaining.

I give this game high accolades for innovation and uniqueness. The images are hilarious and amusing. The game play is unique and stand out from many other games. I love the strategy and "luck of the draw" concept.

The directions require ALOT of reading and take a few minutes and mistakes to get used to. For such a small deck, the game requires a lot of rules.

Because of product quality and game play limitations, I have to give this game a 3 star rating.
The quality of the playing cards are quite cheap and are not durable at all. It's actually very disappointing because of the games initial hype and popularity.

Even though the images are excellent and game play is hilarious, I find that the game becomes ULTRA repetitive. The same limited recycled images come up over and over on a limited deck.

It would be a huge improvement for Exploding Kittens to expand the deck a bit more and to also start using higher quality cards. (Especially with so many directions)

For a game whose only "allure" are cards themselves, one would think the quality of the product would be in the actual (cards).

I got this game for my husband for Christmas and he absolutely loved it. We play it all the time with our friends for game nights and almost all of our friends have loved it! It is simple and easy to learn but has enough strategy involved to keep it fun for college students and people both younger and older. There are also additional 'rules' to add in if you want the game to have even more facets. We have not played with those yet because we haven't even gotten bored of the basic version! We bought the "not suitable for work" version as well as a gift for someone else and that one is equally as fun but not as versatile in terms of guests you can play it with. Overall we love the game and have absolutely no complaints!

This is the best card game that I have played for a really long time. The whole family LOVE IT! There is a really funny YouTube video that explains how to play this game.
[...]

It literally only takes a few minutes to learn this game and you will be hooked. My 10 and 13 years old will bring this game to their friends' house. I love it as they are actually playing a card game instead of games on their phone / PC / TV. After one visit, their friends all bought this game themselves. I have also bought this game as a birthday present for a few kids and they all love it - kid and parents!

How did I find out this game? My 10 years old asks for it! He learned this game at a summer sleepaway camp. His whole cabin play this game every night for 2 weeks straight!

Our family has had a lot of fun with this game since we got it.

It's slightly logic based, must mostly random. It's very fun for all ages (I'd suggest reading specifically what the card does - for example it's more fun if you defuse an exploding kitten because you give it tummy time). It's small and thus makes it easy to take with you (I take it to kids music lessons so the kids who are waiting have something to do). It's just silly and fun (though promotes reading and multi person negation skills). My husband likes it too, but mostly in a "this is silly but everyone is laughing" way.

I think it's totally worth the price. Don't expect rocket science, but do expect you will have a group of different ages having a little laugh and passing some time together.

Great game, lots of fun. The kids love it. Unfortunately, I have to echo what others have said about the quality of the playing cards. For $20, one would expect greater durability in cards that -- other than the outside box -- appear to be the game's only manufacturing cost. We've played a few dozen times, and the corners of the cards are already starting to show their wear. Once other players know the cards you're holding, which they will with weathered cards, the mystery that makes the game so much fun is lost.
That said, it's really a clever and addictive game and worth the purchase price.

This is such a fun game. Our 4 year old, 8 year old and 10 year old love it. The game has pictures in the corner - so you don't have to be a reader to play the game - but it took our 4 year old a few times of playing the game to get used to it, and know what the cards do. The older kids loved it right away. We played the "adult" version first and realized that it is such a creative game of strategy, that our kids would really like it - so we were thrilled to find an "appropriate" kid version. Although, this version is super funny and we didn't really "need" to have the adult one - the cards are appropriate for kids and adults alike.

I like that when you think you have the game won, another player can mess up your plan! There is a lot of strategy that goes into this game, and you learn people's playing styles the more you play with them - and then you can beat them!!! Overall, this is a great fun game for the whole family.
