DEAD ON ARRIVAL...(I thought..)

This review has been edited... this psu works perfectly and it has increased the performance of my PC greatly! Easy install, very quiet, and super efficient. Must have power supply!

Old review. My replacement is being sent in the mail. I will change this rating if the new one works. The one I was sent would not power on my PC only my LED lights.. I troubleshooted everything I could but could not find any other solutions other than sending it back for a replacement... I hope this one works. It's not fun rewiring a PC...

Only lasted 4 months before it died completely. I submitted a warranty claim and initially I was very happy with the customer service until they would not warranty the product because they said the unit I returned was damaged during shipping. They provided me a picture to see the damage for myself and I can barely notice the damage to an already defective product. I attached a picture to show that they are looking for any excuse to deny the claim. This will be the last EVGA product I purchase. I will stick with Corsair PSU's from now on.

Do not buy SEMI-modular

If you own many power supplies, you will not use/keep extra, then inherently swap cables with others over the years. Enter the GQ, which cable connections fit but have their wiring crossed. So when you suddenly destroy several quality ssd's because youre troubleshooting sata isnt recognized on a new build, or maybe you just smell electrical smoking, etc., you will discover you made a mistake not going with a FULLY-modular design.

Power supplies don't do well in a multi-PSU configuration

I recently purchased three of these power supplies for a mining rig I was building. Unfortunately, these power supplies do not play nice when you use a Power supply splitter / adapter with them. I could not get the power supplies to stay on if they were not the primary power supply in the arrangement, and this was at loads of only 50% or even lower (I kept trying to lower the wattage to see what was going on). They would stay on fine at idle, but as soon as I started an intensive task that boosted the power up past 300 or so watts, they would shut off. I am not sure what mechanic inside the power supply causes them to shut off under load in this condition, but it rendered them useless for my scenario. I tried multiple different setups to remedy this, but in each case if one of these was an auxiliary unit in my build, it would shut off as soon as it was given any type of decent load (40-50% of rated power).

I did test the power supplies in a regular single PSU setup, and they seem to work fine. I also tested a different brand same wattage PSU on the new rig and it is having no issues, so I think I pinpointed the issue being these power supplies in this specific scenario. I am sure they are good units (I like most Evga products), but I was just wanting others to be aware that they may not play nice if you plan on daisy chaining them through the use of a PS splitter.

i bought this to replace the psu that died in my gaming rig, i got to play a day worth of my online game and went to play a new game i bought do to having my good computer back up and working. wile playing this game my computer suddenly shut down i didn't smell burning or anything and the power supply didn't give no notice of anything wrong im just praying it did take anything with it. i have a replacement on the way and hoping this replacement will last for a long time and not 1 day... update the 2nt has died on me to with in a few month of haveing it this replacement did last longer but not as long as psu usely do plz anyone stay away of this psu save u some problems im only booting this to 2 stars do to the fact i might be geting it refunded

EVGA is a good company sadly I was hit with a bad unit. Started to get random shutdowns every couple of days. Didn’t really think much of it thought it was my CPU overclock so I returned to stock clock. Still continued to have these shutdown so I started the process of ruling out all of my components being so lucky I have a spare for every component that you would need in a PC so after swapping out the PSU last the issue was resolved. I have had EVGA power supplies in the past for 5+ years and have had no issues. So started the RMA process with them now. It’s just a bad unit it happens and having the warranty that they offer it’s just a minor inconvenience.

At first loved it. Sadly it was crashing my computer after making sure it wasn't my graphics card or motherboard I realized it was indeed the power supply. I think power supplies should be bought from directly the manufacturer. I don't trust 3rd party sellers for something that can fry your computer. I repurchased this directly from EVGA and it was cheaper on their website.

Semi-modular is good enough, fully modular is excessive

Don't waste money on the fully modular version, the semi-modular is what you probably need.

Update after 2 years of use:
The cooling fan started to generate a really annoying and rather loud coil whine. It is present when the fan is stopped, which is most of the time when idle. Thus, the buzz is almost ever existent. I contacted customer support to see if the warranty covers this.
A coil whine is a benign condition that does not affect the device's performance, but it totally is a problem if you invested in Noctua fans to build a completely silent computer.

Crapped out after 6 months

This power supply failed after 6 months. It was being used in a freshly built gaming rig. Thankfully, I was able to replace the power supply, and it seems like the rest of the computer is still functional. Even so, I'm pretty disappointed. This was not a cheap part and I was expecting several years of service at least.
