Remember when Dorothy clicked the heels of her red sequin ballet flats? And repeated that sentiment about home? Well here's the crazy thing about slipping into a pair of new softbed Birkenstocks- I feel like I've come home. My FEET feel like they've come home! Seriously. Such a great feeling. Indescribable. Unless, like me, you happen to own about 20 pairs of Birks (of all colors & styles) & have been wearing for 30 years. I had some hip problems this year which freaked me out since I'm totally healthy. Then I started wearing Birkis constantly for past 6 months, only Birks. No other shoes. Completely healed my hip issue. These are orthotic/orthopedic, so incredibly healthy for you. I used to buy the hard, break-in over time soles (hard on my feet), but now with the softbed option, I only get the soft footbed. The Florida style is superb, as 3 straps give you support & stay on & don't slip around as you hike hills, like I do. I'm a huge walker about 10 miles/day in urban & country settings. These go everywhere & just brush or wipe off. I prefer leather for the basic colors like black- these are nubuck leather- stiffer than suede & durable. The birkiflor is synthetic & immediately super-comfy & clean easier, but begin to look worn after about 8 years as opposed to 20 years! Can you tell that I ADORE these shoes? Birkenstock rocks it. Now I'm seeing urban 20-somethings wearing the classic Birkenstock Arizonas. So they're fashionable again. LOL. Who cares when you're feet are happy & healthy?! (Will I ever wear ANY of my 50-some other pairs of shoes/boots again? -Let's just say I'm really seriously scoping those fur-lined Birkenstocks for winter 😄)
