How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Lauren Weedman is funny, and if you enjoyed her last book, A Woman Trapped in a Woman's Body, you really won't want to miss this one.

I agree with those who compare her to David Sedaris. I'm a huge Sedaris fan, and she is a similar talent. To me, Weedman's stories feel a bit darker than his.

Miss Fortune is a collection of autobiographical stories/essays, all of them highly personal. It's like she's inviting you inside her head, and her willingness to expose her humanity, her vulnerability, her mistakes is beautiful. I read this on a plane, and I was sorry when we touched down because I had to stop for a while--I'd gotten so absorbed.

If you're looking for something thoughtful, funny, fresh, raw, and emotionally honest, give this a read.

I loved the interview on Fresh Air, so I bought the book.

I think some people will love this book a lot more than I did. I found it somewhat disjointed. I applaud the author's ability and her strengh to express with such candor the emotions and insecurities that we all feel (although hers seem to be turned up to 11). We have tested limits in relationships, from childhood, to employment, to romance and marriage. This book lets you see just how far that can go.

For me, there was a bit too much candor. That said, I am reading the other one, so...

I read this in one rainy day, and it was the perfect book to make me forget the rain outside. She has a way of marking herself relatable even though, I swear, none of you has lived this story. But we've all tried to figure out how to be "okay," and we've all felt inadequate, and we've all had that awkward threesome in Europe...oh, wait. Maybe not that last one. Doesn't matter! Lauren's perspectives on life, career, love -- you'll do that laugh where you snort and then go "ouch," because she nailed it so. I've got to say it: endearing. Funny and endearing.

This book kept me laughing during the covid 19 pandemic, in fact I was worried I was annoying my neighbors in close proximity with all my laughing during this dire time in history. Lauren Weedman's humor is akin to a straight female David Sedaris'

Funny and real and heartbreaking. A woman writing about a real life with all the ups, downs, wounds and crazy people. There aren't that many books that can really hit me, but this one did. I laughed out loud, cringed, gasped and had to put it down sometimes to just let what I'd read bake in my brain and gut. Just as good as her previous book, "A Woman Trapped in a Woman's Body", so get that one, too.

I have laughed out loud so many times while reading this book. The author has a great sense of humor, and says what we all want to say about life. I will be purchasing her other book and looking forward to new ones she might write.

I heard her story on NPR. The book was difficult for me to read. The stories are long and rambling and not as funny as her performed NPR piece - she animated and punctuates well. I also did not care for the font and layout. Since the stories were long - I think more breaks etc would have helped visually. Shorter stories.

Lauren is a talented story teller. I laughed, cringed, felt sad and relieved knowing she was and would be okay. I thank her for being brave enough to share her personal stories. This is a book I could not put the book down.

I love this book. Lauren Weedman writes with such a fearlessness, it reminds us that we are not alone. Even in our darkest times. (Even though we all are) And you laugh into tears in the same instance. A gem.
