How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโ€™t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

3.0 out of 5 starsFailure to Power on
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on July 18, 2022
I purchased this power supply for a new computer build back in March, 2022. I tried to power on my system this morning on July, 18 2022 and the power supply failed to power up. I do not over clock anything on my system. So it concerns me about the quality of the power supply. after 4 month and a power up failure. No warning signs. If the replacement fails after 4 months i will not recommend EVGA for power supplies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but cables could be better engineered.
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on November 8, 2017

It certainly supplies power, there's no issue there, but I've definitely seen better engineering when it comes to cables:

The two cables permanently attached are the mother board 24-pin cable (no issues there) and a second cable that has an 8-pin PCI-E output (for your video card) as well as a 6-pin output for your... uhhhh... something? They're very close together so it must be something related to your video card but not your video card.
If your video card takes two 8-pin connectors OR you have SLI or CrossFire, you need another 8-pin cable. Guess what's on the end of that 8-pin cable... another 6-pin output. So now I have two cables going to my video card with two little dangling 6-pin connectors hanging off the side. It looks horrible and isn't great for airflow. The last power supply I had, had one cable that supplied two 8-pin connections. Wonder why this one couldn't...

The second issue is the SATA power. The SATA power cables have three evenly spaced SATA connectors. Who places their SATA devices evenly apart in their computer? Nobody. If there's DVD/Blu-Ray drives, theyre right next to each other. If there's hard drives, theyre right next to each other. I know have to have two SATA power cables coming off the power supply, one to reach the DVD player, the other to reach the two hard drives. Hey EVGA, make a SATA power cable that has two close-together SATA connectors at the end of the cable and one by itself towards the center AND a separate cable that has two close-together near the center of the cable and one by itself at the end. Or better yet, make a SATA power cable that has 4 connections like my last power supply.

Because of those two issues, I have two extra cables coming off the power supply and going into my case messing up looks and airflow. A major issue? No. Hence the drop of only 1 star. But an issue nonetheless that I'm aware is fixable with better engineered cables as my prior power supply didn't have either issue.

The problem with my last one is it burnt up after 3 years, so maybe we just don't get both.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid, but maybe thereโ€™s something about EVGA units?
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on August 3, 2020

Itโ€™s a solid unit, however I think there may be a problem with EVGA units. Iโ€™ve only had 3 units all from EVGA. The Gold 550, the gold 750 that just gave out after 3 years, and now the 750 bronze. Each kinda had their own problems. Ranging from it sounding like metal on metal or in the case of the 750 Bronze, it ramps up full speed seemingly for any newer game. Older games from maybe like 2015 and before have no problem and it doesnโ€™t ramp up, but newer games from 2016 and beyond regardless of resolutions of 1080p and 1440p seem to just ramp up. And the system itself is cool so the psu itself shouldnโ€™t just be ramping up like that. Iโ€™ve felt the airflow in the back and the psu feels like itโ€™s pushing out more air than my own fans. Iโ€™m not sure why it does this with some games. Overall itโ€™s a solid unit but maybe in a few months if it worsens I may be looking towards a Bequiet or Coolermaster unit. Kinda goes to show that maybe itโ€™s good to branch out and try other brands.

4.0 out of 5 stars First one had issues, replacement works great
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on December 1, 2018

When I installed the power supply, I noticed that it made a faint noise similar to a bad fan, but not quite the same. As it was fairly quiet, I chalked it up as an aspect of the power supply. Not long after, it turned into something more like a rattling sound and tripped the voltage alarm on my motherboard.

As is usually the case, EVGA's tech support was good, and I got it replaced under warranty. The replacement has worked fine since and has has none of the issues I experienced before.

While I won't give it 5 stars since I did have to replace it fairly quickly, I would not hesitate to order another one, and still tend to prefer EVGA products.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good power supply. One small problem.

This power supply works great! Wish I could give it 5 Stars. With a case where the power supply is on the bottom (which most are these days) the cpu wire is to short to route nicely around the side of the motherboard. Don't like having to run a wire across components, makes for a sloppy looking build. Thankful the case I used on this build never had a window on the side so this problem isn't readily seen. A top power supply case would work great with this power supply.

4.0 out of 5 stars The cable does not fit well
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on January 5, 2019

The power supply its self Is good, but the cable that comes with it barely fits in the plug. It is lose that it falls out while you are on your computer and it will randomly shut down and the the plug falls out of the socket everything else about this psu is great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good solid power supply.

Bought this for a new build. Not 100% modular but there are some who favor a direct connection for the motherboard power plugs. Only down side is flat cables are harder to route around corners.
No Tokyo by night lighting effects or battleship output wattage but newer CPU's and GPU are less power hungry than 5 years ago.
