A heavy emotional read!

A story of love, pain, heartache, independence, and manipulation. This was my first read by J.A. Owenby and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The blurb caught my attention and I was excited to see where the story was headed.
The book starts with the present time where Lacey is saying goodbye to her mother who is about to be taken off life support. Then the story flashed back twenty years in the past where Lacey has been convinced, by her mother, that she is possessed by Demons. Lacey is the outcast of the family for this reason. Nothing she ever does is correct, she is always in trouble. This was a very vital part to the story line and felt it was written very well. However, I felt that it was a bit unrealistic at times.
My biggest complaint with this book was insta-love. I am very picky when it comes to insta-love and this story just didn’t do it for me. I was very annoyed with the majority of the relationship between Lacey and Walker.
Overall, this was a good debut novel and I did enjoy this book, and the ending, enough to want to continue on with the next book in the series.
Few of My Favorite Quotes:
“I want to kiss you forever,” he whispered as he brought his mouth to mine.
“You’re so beautiful.” His voice cracked with emotion.
“I love you munches and munches and munches.”
“I couldn’t keep treading water.”
