I forgot that I pre-ordered this, so I squealed with glee when the mailwoman surprised me! My 9-year-old daughter, my boyfriend and I play Exploding Kittens way too often. It has never gotten boring on its own, but we could barely contain our excitement when opening this expansion pack. On the box, it only boasts three new actions in addition to an imploding kitten, but inside contains so much more! The new cards completely change the game, in the best way.

You receive:
o Alter the Future, where you can not only peek at, but switch the first three cards.
o Reverse, where you reverse the order of play.
o Draw from the Bottom, where you do exactly what it says. This is useful when you know someone is out to get you.
o Target Attack, which is played like an attack, but you get to pick the player you wish to attack.
o Feral cat, which is like a wild (haha!) card for cat cards! These definitely change the game.
o Imploding kitten, which cannot be diffused! The addition of this card also allows for 6 players instead of the old maximum of 5.

You also receive a human-sized Cone of Shame for the first person to forget which player's turn is next. My daughter is WAY more excited about this than I am. That's probably the point.

You can choose to play with ANY OR ALL of the new expansion cards. Pick and choose your favourites! The only thing I feel must be noted is that several of the new action cards are for playing with 3 or more players. Choosing who to attack or reversing order, for example, wouldn't make a difference in a 2 player game.
The artwork is hilarious, as expected from The Oatmeal. Overall, if you are a fan of Exploding Kittens, this expansion is pretty much a necessity, especially if you often play with a group.

One might think, upon first inspection, that there is way too much packaging material for a mere 20 cards to expand one's Exploding Kittens core game. However, upon opening the box, one would discover that not only are there the expected 20 brand new cards, illustrated by the Oatmeal, but also a plastic divider and.... no drumroll, please (you'll scare the kitties)... a Human Cone of Shame! "What in the name of the Oatmeal's Holy Name would you do with a Human Cone of Shame?" one might ask. I'm glad one asked! One would have to wear it until the end of the game if one forgot it was their turn to play!
The Imploding Kitten card is diabolical. When drawn, it must be put back in the deck, face up, and the next person to draw it is out of the game, period. No Defuse card may be played, and it cannot be noped. Suddenly, that Shuffle card you drew three rounds ago just became a lot more important, didn't it?
The ability to reverse the order of play, a la Uno, also adds a new twist.
As always, the cards are beautifully done.
The game remains a pleasure to play, as I do often with my work friends during lunch. As long as Exploding Kittens keeps putting out new expansions, I plan to buy them.

I ordered Exploding Kittens and this expansion to go with it.

The problem is that the cards from the base set and the cards in the expansion are different enough to be noticeable. The Imploding cards are a slight amount larger and have slightly darker background color... this means you can tell where the expansion cards are in the draw pile, and if taking a card randomly from another player, you can tell which cards came from the expansion. It kind of ruins the game.

I could believe it if I bought the expansion to add to my years-old base set, but I just bought both of these at the same time as a gift. When we opened them to play the first time we found the printing issues.

I will try to add some photos later to demonstrate the problem.

If you love the base game you'll hate this, sure to ruin friendships with targeted attacks and the dreaded cone of shame. Just when you have an idea of what to do expect your significant other to run you over. That said I think it's a great addition to the game, adds a little depth and fun with out over complicating anythinfanythinf

I really enjoyed this. This adds some cards to the game that even out the gameplay in a way that is familiar to card game players and helps even out the game play. Examples include: A reverse card, a wild card, and a card that allows shuffling of just the top three. The latter seems to marginalize the future and shuffle card quite a bit, but not enough to hurt the game. Helping this somewhat is the inclusion of the "implosion card," the namesake of the expansion, that everyone can see coming but a diffuse will not work on.So a blind shuffle isn't totally useless anymore.

We played with the "cone of shame" which is a fun gimmick, but not something that will see the table regularly.

My favorite thing is how they included components to convert your existing box into one that will hold all the new cards and your instructions in the current box quite comfortably. It's a great expansion.

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this expansion pack - but it included more cards (20) that are a cute addition adding in new rules like reversing direction, an Imploding Kitten of Doom (no Defusing of this Kitten!), and taking a card from the bottom of the pile.

Our friends got confused easily about the direction, which is where the Cone of Shame comes into play - honestly, all of us ended up wearing it as we couldn't remember the direction, or just asked the question. Then hilarity ensued, and the next person forgot. It definitely added a really fun and different aspect to the game.

One must have no shame playing this game!

I'm definitely glad we invested in the expansion - it made the game that much more interesting!

We loved the original game, and have played it with kids, mixed groups and over new year's eve, with all adults. The expansion pack adds a new dimension of randomness- and "betrayal" to the original. We love the reverse, the alter the future, and the targeted attack! The imploding kitten is interesting, but we have just been playing it as a regular kitten, as the whole turning it right side up in the deck doesn't make it any more fun- in fact it reduces some of the tension around not knowing what the next card will be! Overall a really fun game for kids of all ages.

Some of my friends tried to lose so they could quit playing. My mom thought we were making everything up because the rules can seem preposterous. Replay value for the original game and expansion is a mid to low. After you've seen all the goofy drawings, it loses some appeal. The expansion pack makes it so you have to be sober in order to understand the game.
I think the original game is a good ice breaker game when there are some new people around. The expansion pack is for when you have over people you hate.

I have the base game and the NSFW edition. I wanted to add a new spin to the game, and this definitely did the trick. Honestly, after so many replays of EK, my friends and I actually came up with house rules similar to the new cards in the expansion. This brought a fresh feel to the game and revived the game for my group. I was actually expecting a box similar to the base game, but this expansion came with something half as thick and 3 times as large, so if you get a large package, just know it's just this expansion.

It comes with new cards (I forget how many), a little add on to put into one of your EK boxes to increase the amount of cards you can fit into one box (I thought this was ingenious), and a surprise inside.

Great little expansion for Exploding Kittens. The new cards are fun, and the added player is great. I would say that this is a must have.
It takes a special group of players to actually incorporate the 'cone of shame' included... but it gives a lot of laughs.

For some reason every time I play this game most of the exploding kitten cards end up in the last 5-10 cards of the game haha. Anyone else have this happen?
