This book is a surprisingly quick read, especially if you focus on the advice sections and skim through the science explanations.

The book is well organized, and each chapter ends with a nice and short summary. The advice is simple and most of it was known to me from other sources. E.g. blue light and sleep / stress, avoid EMF, eating fat is good for you, etc. The author also includes a refreshingly short and well organized chapter on supplements. A novel angle is that he relates most of the advice to mitochondrial health, which other sources of similar advice did not mention (at least from what I have read before).

My main beef with this book, and most other "biohacking" is that it is very person-specific. The author had some serious metabolic and brain abnormalities in his youth. Through a long journey of various bio hacks, he was able to put those problems behind him. However, you and I may not have the same issues that he started with. For example, he is preoccupied with mycotoxins, which are also the premise behind his Bulletproof Coffee business. I think this is irrelevant for most people. Just like a minority of people are sensitive to gluten, an even smaller minority is probably sensitive to the mycotoxins supposedly present in coffee. Becoming dependent on coffee or getting too wired to sleep are probably more common coffee issues than mycotoxic shock :)

Recommended, esp. if it is one of your first books on healthy living. If you have been immersed in this field longer, it may not add much new information.

I've been following Dave Asprey and listening to his podcasts for a few years and sometimes his "bio-hacks" can seem a bit silly and unnecessary. However, Dave is a very smart guy and is using cutting edge science and the most recent research and has a way of making very complicated material easy to read and digest. This book should be read by everyone. Following Dave's recommendations will absolutely improve your health and well-being. Our environment is changing rapidly (EMF, LED lighting, processed food full of GMO, sugar, and other toxins, and were under constant stress and distraction. So many of the diseases and ailments plaguing modern society are caused from mitochondrial dysfunction. Our cells cannot function without energy. They get that energy from those tiny powerhouses in our cells. I have also been following a neurosurgeon who is rather famous (or infamous) in the Paleo/Incestral Health world, too, but have struggled to comprehend his ideas. Dave presents very similar material in a manner that anyone can understand. We cannot be healthy and live optimally unless we have an efficient power source. We need to protect and nurture our mitochondria. I believe we'll see some fascinating studies coming out in the next few years that further illustrate the damage modern society is doing to our mitochondria, resulting in myriad Neolithic maladies. Dave's a smart, likable guy and I highly recommend this book for anyone, especially those of you who would like to make a few simple changes to dramatically improve your physical and psychological health, your brainpower, and your longevity.

Anyone wishing to improve and/or maximize their health should read this and The Bulletproof Diet by the same author. In this book, Asprey makes a convincing argument for the importance of mitochondria. As in The Bulletproof Diet, Asprey also includes a protocol to follow, should the reader desire to act on his advice.

This book has a lot of good information, but it does promote Bulletproof products quite a lot. Another excellent book recently released with good mitochondria information, which is very scientific, but understandable is Alzheimer's Antidote by Amy Berger.

At first I was annoyed that David would say later I will tell you more about it particular concept. Then he broke lose and this book is amazing . He states ideas and has confirmed truths. I am a vitamin researcher I worked for Sprouts store, Central Drugs Pharmacy back at Sprouts again. I have two days off coming up and I am sooo looking forward to finishing this book and will return with further input. So far I love this book. Marilyn Wogahn

Dave has done it again and knocked it out of the park! This is an incredibly well-done book that I will re-read over and over and certainly recommend (and give) to others. Tremendous research, insightful and extremely helpful, all in a very approachable way. If you've ever felt like you've lost your edge, this book gives you the tools to not only reclaim it, but to exceed your own performance expectations.

People want a level 10 life. In order to have that, you gotta build up to a level 10 brain function. Dave lays it out in this book.

The book has a ton of content and is relevant to help health hackers with strong and deep knowledge.
I would say now after reading this that the word bulletproof is grossly overused.
Overall, a good book to learn many new health trends.

GREAT BOOK!!! Dave Asprey really does a great job explaining every part of what it takes to increase your brain function. It may seem like hocus pocus to some but it really does work if you commit to it.
