Hit or miss when ordering from Amazon. Food items typical with Amazon. Some cans, hiss/pop when you open the can and peel back the seal, that means FRESH. Others, nothing, and stale.

Illy is outstanding I enjoy far more than Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, no acid taste or harshness. Great brand a bit overpriced but if you enjoy good coffee, grab some.

I advise the whole beans, instead of ground, and always keep in freezer or fridge after opening cans

As the headline says, I received whole beans instead of ground. What can I say, I'm lazy until I have had that cup of coffee....that's why it gets brewed in the Kuerig for the first cup. The rest of my dozen cups throughout the day are French pressed. I don't want to deal with grinding beans for that first cup. I would ask for a replacement but policy is "no returns but replacement is possible" yet when I look for a way to replace it, that option is also not there. Thankfully I have a bean grinder and will just let the morning precoffee bitch stay around a little longer to get that cup of coffee until this can is done. As for the coffee itself...it's the best out there. I won't touch an American brand ever again. LOL I love American made products but they just can't do coffee (and chocolate) as well as Europeans.

Illy is one of the best commercial canned coffees you can buy. If you like dark roast, the Forte Extra Dark Roast will hit the mark. The but- Extremely expensive for daily use. You could drink small batched craft roasted coffee for less. If you want an excellent coffee that can sit in the cupboard for awhile before you need it- it's perfect.

Illy has the best Dark Roast Coffee around... I have friends come over all the time and compliment this coffee.

I'm not too much of a coffee connoisseur but the taste is nice and strong(bold) and the coffee itself does not taste as acidic like other coffees. It's a bold, dark, full bodied flavor.

You can drink this one straight black unlike others for myself and blended with creamers etc and still keeps its nice bold taste.

One word of caution: I've ordered this 8 times and twice received a can with no lid on it, so don't throw away your old lid until after you get your new coffee delivered! Not sure what the seller is doing with all those extra lids...

Cans arrived dented all over, but product was well sealed with aluminum pull tabs (like soda cans). Flavor is excellent, and rich. Never bitter. Not as strong as a Cafe du Monde, but strong in its own way. And much smoother than any other coffee I've had so far. Similar to Peet's Italian Roast.

Terrible Quality Control

I ordered this particular coffee because of it's positive reviews.But this company has a big problem with Quality Control.

The coffee comes in a vacuum sealed metal tin. The one I received was free from dents and had the proper lid.The vacuum seal was good and the coffee seemed to me to be fresh.

The big problem I had was the grind advertised is NOT what I got.
I ordered the course grind for my french press and what I received was a finely powdered grind more suitable for an espresso machine.

Many others reviews have noted other QC issues.Such as, no lids, dented tins, and other issues.

I like the flavor of this blend, but I won't be ordering any more of it, nor would I recommend illy's products to anyone.There are simply too many issues with quality control and product packaging.

I rate this product an over all 1 star because of the terrible Quality Control.

Mine came stale. Did not make a hiss sound when opening the seal. Seems like most Illy products sold on Amazon are old batches or missing lids. You're better off buying this from the actual Illy website or at a grocery store. Order from Amazon as a last resort.
