A fascinating and provocative experiment. Washburn captures you with a clear, yet down to earth writing style as he logs his fast. You feel connected with him while he describes the intensity of his physical and emotional draw toward food and his fight to stay away. I appreciated the scientific background that he put into layman's terms, but most of all I enjoyed seeing how he fought his way to victory. If you are attempting a long-term fast, you'll find a great friend in this resource. This quick read is fun, insightful, and full of humanity.
"My 7-day Fast" was a very enjoyable read. Not too long, but not so fast that you were left with any holes. It had a nice blend of both information and personal experience. I enjoyed the author's voice, and I loved the dreams that were included. It gave the story a nice touch. If you want to find out more about what it might be like to fast for an elongated period of time or if you're just in the mood to read about preserverance in the face of resistance, this will be a good read for you.
I found this to be a very interesting read and would definitely recommend it. It wasn't very long so it's not a huge commitment, but it was quite enjoyable. I feel like it was a great window into the personality and thought process of the author as he went through this wild experience. I actually laughed out loud several times throughout the book at some of the commentary throughout.
I loved reading this! It was an intense page turner which doesn't happen in non-fiction for me very often. It is also full of a lot of really useful health concepts in an easy to understand format that still has me thinking about it long after finishing. I plan to read it a second time soon!
i really appreciated reading j's experience. i was entertained, but also enlightened. i especially enjoyed hearing how much he appreciated food after a week of fasting. i have a yeast infection in my gut and may try a 3 day fast soon to see if this helps.
