Overall, the mobile aspect of the Switch is worth the buy. Playing higher end games on road-trips or waiting in the airport is a definite upgrade from the average phone game library. This is some of the best sales Nintendo has seen in a while, so if the lack of AAA games is a concern, I'd give it until E3 or the Fall before you decide to make the purchase. Hopefully more 3rd-party companies will hop onto the hype.
Truth be told, I'm just waiting for Animal Crossing or Pokemon to ruin my life. If none of these games came to fruition, my review would probably sit at 3 stars. I've had this thing for about 2 months and haven't touched Nintendo games since the Wii so there could be changes to my review.
The Good:
-Very sleek design and quick to start immediately playing. Moving a running console from the home TV to a vehicle without exiting my game is a strange and convenient experience.
-Charges quickly.
-Haven't had any troubles with syncing joy-cons.
-The screen on the device isn't bad for single player experiences.
-Takes a lot for it to heat up, even when running higher end games.
-The provided joy-con controller dock looks strange but is comfortable to use.
The Bad:
-The console dock feels cheap, like an afterthought. There's no easy way to spin it as a good thing. I think some 3rd party accessories already exist in an attempt to solve this.
-OS is fairly primitive, but I figure this will change as it does with any console release.
-A lot of the current library is ported games. Most developers seem to be banking on the mobile aspect and, to be honest, I doubt any of them thought the console was going to be as popular as it is. Hopefully next year yields some more original titles.
-Dedicated Amiibo sensor. Great for kids, but I'm a grown-ass man.
-32gb memory. Come on, this is what my phone supports. Don't make me buy a mini-sd just so I can fit your games on the console. This is also why you want to get hard copies of Zeldor and Maria so you don't end up using all of your memory.

-Breath of the Wild is already pushing the limits of the console. This isn't necessarily a bad thing for everyone and optimization updates have fixed most frame-drops. However, I figure I would mention that.
-4 Player is available on one console but pushes it to it's limits. Mario Kart 4p greatly reduces the deluxe visuals and maintains a choppier, unsatisfying experience. The best way to play it is either 2p on one Switch or everyone gets their own (which seems like a devious marketing strategy). I was also having some troubles with the wireless play aspect but this could be related to the game itself.
-I've heard they were getting ready for online monthly payments. This wouldn't be an issue if they weren't already providing it for free. This obviously has a lot of people concerned.
If any of these concerns seriously bother you, let's hope Nintendo eventually upgrades the device and gives the current Switch owners an exchange discount of some kind.

Wow. Better than I thought. I have PS4, Vita, iPhone etc; the Switch is a nicer device that I like better than all of them. You know, for a product to do well, word of mouth and quality really matters or it'll fizzle out. The hype for the Switch isn't hollow hype, it is a really great item superior in many ways than anything out there. Looks like Nintendo has real winner here that will create a large player base for years to come! Definitely jump on board and enjoy the games.

Well I'm 48 baught it for our kids who are 8 and 9 and well I play it more than they do..love how easy it is to work the controllers on or off the device..so very happy

Finally, a home console that I can play on the go! The Nintendo Switch absolutely meets its goals in every way possible. Battery life is pretty good for the types of games it's running, transition between TV play and portable play is seamless, and the included Joycon grip prevents you from having to buy a pro controller unless you're a hardcore gamer. Not too many games are out right now, but Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will tide you over until there's a more extensive library available. If you like Nintendo games and want to play them at home, between classes, or while on your lunch break, this is the console for you.
My only recommendation is that if you're going to be tossing the system into a backpack, buy a carrying case. And it is very important that you get a glass screen protector since there have been issues with the dock scratching the plastic of the screen.

After owning this system for 2 months I can say it's a phenomenal purchase; so far I have gotten The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Bomberman R, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and have had no regrets Zelda, as expected, has taken easily 100+ hours of my free time, but it's been fun the entire way exploring, discovering and playing how I want. Super Bomberman R was mostly a "filler" purchase, but the story mode is hilarious and the gameplay is addictive. I already owned Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, but I didn't mind double-dipping because of the new characters/carts, the tweaks, and the much, MUCH better battle mode (which is like its own half of the game). I also have several titles coming up that I'm excited for, like Splatoon 2 or Mario Odyssey. It has great games, everything about it functions well, it's compact, the portability actually works incredibly well...this system was a joy (and not just because its controllers are called "joycons" :p).

Pictures can't do this device any justice, this is an elegant and premium product. Most Nintendo handhelds have been "kiddy" and toylike, but this seems like the proper successor to Sony Vita. instead of clumsy wires hanging off the system, there is a clean dock solution if you want to "Switch" to tv mode. Not a fan of HOW one has to dock the system - hoping for a revision down the line or a "dock 2.0" that would resemble more of a simple cradle, (like the Wii U gamepad charger)
can't really say much for any negatives, so far its all positive. just need games in the pipeline and the schedule in 2017 looks strong.

Got it for my wife as a surprise after she'd searched high and low for weeks with no luck, and a lot of retail scorn. Now she plays it daily.

Nintendo is the console company that doesn't care about speed, teraflops, processing power, or any of those other parameters you'd have to Google to understand. They care about making things FUN...and that's why you should get a Switch.
