I am always skeptical when it comes to bio based laundry detergents. Usually they leave clothes smelling foul or leave stains in. I was pleasantly surprised with this. I have a husband who is a mechanic and 2 year old son who constantly has grass stains or grease stains from helping dad. I used the laundry detergent concentrate to pre-treat the grease and grass stains and they came out spotless. No odor fresh out of the dryer despite this laundry detergent having no scent. For the price it's very comparable to the seventh generation I buy consistently. I don't have a energy efficient washer, so I can't say how it would turn out, but I am pleased with my trusty washer and dryer.

So far I'm liking this Presto! laundry detergent just fine, in fact, almost five stars fine. More about that later. The fact that it is fragrance free is very important to me because I'm highly sensitive to scents and odors, I cannot detect any fragrance in this detergent. It is also plant based and free of dyes and artificial brighteners. The label states that the product is "tested for sensitive skin" but the only information given about that is to state elsewhere on the label that it is "gentle on skin". I can say that I have not had any skin sensitivity problems directly attributable to this product since I've been using it. This detergent is for use with all water temperatures and it was not tested on animals. The product is for use in regular and HE washers. The bottle is made from 100% recycled plastic except for the colorant. The big important thing is that it is getting my laundry clean and rinsing completely out of the cloths. That rinse water doesn't appear to have any soap residue in it.

All of the above was positive, so now we come to the reason for four stars instead of five: the directions on the bottle say for medium loads fill cap to line 2, for larger or heavily soiled loads fill cap to line 3. I say: what lines? I had to take this clear plastic cap outside to have the right lighting to find two lines (which I then marked with a black Sharpie pen) much less three lines. Where is line one? This may not sound like much of a problem, but I'm using the detergent in a high efficiency washer and it makes a difference in the amount of suds produced per load size. Plus it was just a plain hassle that didn't seem like it needed to be associated with a laundry detergent. Make the lines more distinct so I can see them inside, at night, with normal overhead lighting. Not such a hard thing to do.

I am always willing to try out new laundry detergent so when I was offered a chance to test Presto Biobased Liquid Landry Detergent I gladly took it.

For the most part, I am quite pleased with Presto Biobased Liquid Landry Detergent. The bottle may seem small, but you can do up to fifty three loads of laundry per bottle – a little bit of this laundry detergent goes a long way (I find that I use much less of this laundry detergent that I do other laundry detergents). The laundry detergent does an excellent job of washing items – I used it on a tablecloth that I thought was stained beyond redemption but I first treated the stain with this laundry detergent and then washed it with the laundry detergent and the stain came out – yay! The laundry detergent has worked equally well with other stained items.

As much as I like this laundry detergent, I do have two issues with it. First, while there are fill lines marked inside the cap so you can measure how much laundry detergent to use, I find it difficult to see the lines (the other adult in my house had no problem seeing the lines so your mileage may vary). Second, while the laundry detergent is supposed to be fragrance free, there is a definite scent to it – something to keep in mind if you are sensitive to odors.

In the end, despite those two issues, I am quite happy with this Presto Biobased Liquid Landry Detergent.

I chose this as soon as I saw Made in USA and NOT tested on animals. What a pleasure to use a product made here and not harming animals in it's production.

I didn't know what to expect when I opened the box. The packaging is almost too good :) There is no way the bottles will leak or get damaged unless a truck runs over the box. Lots of cardboard inside. The bottles are small and easy to handle.

I washed some winter sheets that have a VelvetLoft(TM) finish and should be air dried in the dryer .I did not use a fabric softener. They came out beautiful! I then washed some white cotton washcloths that I use to remove makeup and don't always rinse out before hanging up to dry. All the eyeshadow, blush, etc., came out and I used cold water to wash them

I noticed a definite difference in how the wet items felt upon taking them out of the washer. Softer and no fragrance whatsoever which is major to me having respiratory issues. MAJOR!

Two things that will not stop me from buying in the future, but I wish were different - the white tape that is wrapped around the cap so there is no leakage. It's so white and matches the white bottle so well that for a moment I didn't see that tape was keeping the cap from opening, And, then I couldn't find a 'start' to get the tape off and ended up using a box cutter. I would like to see that tape perhaps in a blue or green to match the bottle, but is easily seen by the user, especially a first time user. AND, the markings on the cap are beyond difficult to see. They might as well not be on there. I used a black marker, but that didn't work. I know after one or two uses, a consumer wouldn't need them, but again, for a first time user it would be nice if they were in a different color on the cap so they were readable.

All in all, I definitely recommend based on my experience.

Disclaimer: We are on well water, filtered but still high in iron so that may affect our results with this detergent.
I found that this just didn't clean well. We have 5 kids at home and more pets than anyone should have. I was happy that there wasn't any fragrance detectable, and that it did seem to be highly concentrated (using the lesser amount on the impossible to read measuring cap produces great suds). The clothes felt great coming out of the dryer - and even hung dry nice. But, grease stains never came out well. Cooking oils, salad dressing, engine grease, etc even when pre-treated with the straight detergent were still there. Using another pre-treatment is a viable option, but so far all the good ones I've found are highly scented. Most of that scent does wash out with this detergent, but not all.

The first thing I noticed about this product was its small size. Next, I saw the small measuring cap and understood that this is a very concentrated product. I like that, as it saves water and reduces the energy required to ship it. That, plus the recycled-plastic bottle makes it very environmentally friendly. It is not petroleum based and has almost no smell, when you open the bottle. One the wash is done, there is no residual odor of any kind. It also has no artificial color, so it should be safe for people with skin allergies.
It cleans as well as anything else I have used; no better or worse. I can not say how it works on heavy stains, as we do not generally get our clothes stained much. But the wash looks & smells clean. The cap has measuring marks for small, medium & large loads, but they are kind of hard to see. This is why I deducted a star. But all in all, it's pretty good.

These bottles are small. But the concentration of the formula allows for far less detergent as well. So basically you are not paying for water.
Not paying for water, also means you are not lugging around heavy detergent. If you live in an apartment and have to leave to do laundry, or if you keep your detergent on a high or low shelf, not lifting heavy detergent bottles is going to be a nice little bonus.
I would not say this detergent is scent free. If you open the bottle you will notice a pleasant "clean" scent. This scent was not evident to me on the clean laundry after leaving the dryer. So I think most of the scent rinses out. However if you are a hunter and are sensitive to scents that may give you away, you will definitely want to consider a double rinse to be safe.
For everyone else, scent free, is probably on target.
One other notable thing is the safety seal. It is very similar to white electrical tape. Don't expect to just rip it off like may safety seals. You will either need to cut it with a sharp instrument, or find the leading edge, and peel it back. It peals back fairly easily when you find the edge. But this stuff will not easily tear.

Works fine, no fragrance listed as "Biobased...Tested for sensitive skin".

We wash tons of cloths here with a family of four. My wife is not particularly crazy about our new 'he' washer, and she's very picky about which detergents and cleaners to use. They have to clean well, and she wouldn't mind a 'safer' produt. I don't tend to care for fragrances; she doesn't mind them.

This one cleans well. She didn't notice any difference with a traditional detergent. It did not leave a noticeable residual of smell on the clothes- scores for me; although, it does smell chemically if your sniff it before you wash with it.

It claims 53 loads/bottle, highly concentrated. Good enough, a bit pricier.

If you imagine "biobased" means "natural," "healthy," "chemical free," or "environmentally superior," you'll be disappointed. I like that it's free of frangrances, but it's got plenty of chemicals in it, including some that are not particularly healthy. Individual sensitivities are impossible to predict. As for cleaning ability, I find that it works reasonably well--as well as the average detergent, but not as well as Tide. I notice assume reviewers exclaim it's very concentrated. I find that it's about as concentrated as most other liquid detergents.

Scent free, washes my clothes thoroughly, and causes no allergic reaction? Yes, thank you!

When the detergent arrived, I was a little skeptical about the bottle's claims that it would do 50+ loads. But I was mistaken - it must be hugely concentrated (although it's not very thick), because you only need roughly half a cap (if I had a criticism, it would be that the lines on the cap marking small, medium, and large loads' worth of detergent are faint). At half a cap per medium load, this bottle will last a long while.
