Honestly speaking, this is the BEST website software that I have ever used! So easy to understand, and multiple site options to choose from. Don't waste any more time with others on the market; this one is a winner.

Works OK, but is a pain in the neck.

AT&T doesn't allow the FTP. I found a work around to upload, but no down load.
I used Front Page since 2003. AT&T doesn't support it anymore either. That's why I bought this.
No photo galleries. I have around four hundred photos in twenty two galleries from my users. I used Photoshop to put pictures in PDF files. That works. To me that is a big deal. I rate this a general pain in the neck. I don't usually write bad reviews, but this one deserves it.

What's with this version 12 nonsense?

I ordered this from Amazon. The Amazon page alleges this is version 15, but I got version 12! As others note, it constantly duns you to upgrade to 17 for $60, and do it today right now. I tried every way I could think of to get it to upgrade, to which I was supposedly entitled, and it went through some motions, but in the end, I was left with version 12. And more dunning every time I start the program.

Judging from what others have said about non-existent customer service, I'm not even going to try to deal with Xara. Why waste the time?

Because of such dishonesty, I'm going do something I've never done in 15 years of writing product reviews on Amazon. I'm giving Xara Web Designer Premium one star. I would give this product zero stars if I could.

Began installation by inserting DVD into my computer. Installation began and asked me if I wanted to install the 32-bit or 64-bit version. I selected 64-bit. After that sounds kept came out of the DVD device that made it sound like it was reading the DVD, but nothing happened. I removed the DVD from the computer and restarted the machine. When I tried again to install the program, my computer indicated there was no DVD device.

Initially it appeared as though this would be an ideal WYSIWYG program for creating a website from your own desktop, however it is rife with problems, particularly if your website it to be professional and more than 3 pages.

There are two major problems; 1) Time out errors and 2) temp file errors during publication. To some degree, the timeout errors can be corrected if you know a bit about computing, or if you hunt online. Unfortunately, the temp file errors are a mystery. The Xara program file seems to write huge hidden files into the computer's temp folder (or somewhere) making them impossible to find. Thus, after the website reaches a certain size, publication is impossible; you simply get error message after error message reading; "A write error occurred (unknown 22) with the file: C:\Temp\xpfCDA0.tmp"

As for online help, you submit a ticket and get some nonsense about how you aren't using the program correctly, which is a farce. This company, considering they sell this product in the US, should have US-based telephone support, and they don't.

My advice, learn WordPress and go from there.

Fraudulent web hosting company!

Xara web hosting does NOT allow transparent visibility on any platform of the internet: google (all), Firefox, etc. the web http coding is convoluted and not portable if you want to move it to another host.
When trying to cancel even afterward (which involves a complex cancellation of your paid site THEN going back to the site and signing up to the free hosting trial and again cancelling, they still billed me and to try to attach the email where they confirmed my cancellation, the billed me! There are many good website hosts that are from good to great. STAY AWAY from this company ( who make it easy to sign up) for your own good!

Beware! The program itself works OK… until you deactivate it to activate it on a laptop if you travel. When you de-activate it on the laptop and want to activate it again on your desktop, you have a message : "This serial number has already been registered to another Email address. Please contact Xara Support. - Error code - 24" - And guess what? There's no way on Earth to contact them, as any attempt to do it is null because your name and password are not accepted anywhere on their website.
UPDATE: A few months ago, I was finally contacted by Xara people and could solve the problem. Part of the problem seemed to be that the original company was sold and my problem with the program happened in that in-between moment.

bought the program after three attempts to build a site and get corrupted when uploading. contacted support and there is none despite multiple tickets and requests .have bought another program . beware
