Ordered this after my second dog this summer injured his ACL jumping out of the car instead of waiting for help. The pros are that it raises him up (he is a King Charles Cav) so he can see out and prevents him from jumping around inside and possible falling off the car seat. The cons are that the sturdiness for the price does not meet my expectations. My dog is 26 pounds and the pad he sits on falls into the base so I had to use an old pillow underneath to keep it level. The inside under the seat pad is a heavy cardboard type covered in fabric; not sure how long it will last. The tether strap that comes with this is flimsy but my dog wears a harness so I used this to secure him into the seat rather than the strap that comes with it. Before purchasing this my husband and I measured the interior of the rear seat of both my Outback and Camry to make sure I could fit two in comfortably since I have two dogs; no way would two fit in the rear seat. Disappointed with how expensive this was and the construction quality I took a laundry basket, put some old bed pillows in it and wove my seatbelt through the holes in the laundry basket for the second dog. On top of the pillows I put an old blanket so her paws do not pop through the laundry basket holes. She is happy in her laundry basket/car seat and can see out. Not sure if the laundry basket is safe in an accident but it keeps her restrained using her harness and raised up to look out and lay down. Check you headrests to make sure they are adjustable in the rear seat because in my 2013 Camry they are not which makes using this a challenge if you plan on restraining your dog with a tether other than the one that comes with this.
