When Donald Trump was elected the next President of the United States, early on November 9th, 2016, people all over the world knew that they had witnessed a miracle. They just didn't know, how or why, or what it meant in a historical context.
The how, why, and historical context are the subject of a superb new book, "How Trump Won: The Inside Story of a Revolution". Joel Pollak and Larry Schweikart have crafted an analysis that shares both the immediacy and long range perspective that are essential to understand how a political novice, with a small campaign organization and fewer resources, was able to beat sixteen Republican opponents , and the most powerful and highly financed political organization the United States had ever seen: Hillary Clinton.

Great look behind the scenes at the most unusual political campaign of my lifetime. How patriotism brought out unexpected voters that still baffle those professional politicians and journalists and pollsters.

This book gives a great summary and insight on the Trump election. I love the campaign trail notes interspersed with the wide historic view provided. This election will go down as the most historic election since 1980. It will have far reaching consequences for future generations of Americans. This book is an excellent keepsake and analysis. I highly recommend this book.

Interesting combination from two people directly involved in the campaign, one a Breitbart reporter, the other a historian who helped the campaign with insight and poll interpretations. Both writers are talented and insightful, with the reporter intimately showing the reaction of the people as the campaign hit its final month and the historian providing context of the race and victory. The two writers alternate chapters, and quickly provide an insightful and intimate feel for the race, how people reacted, and really how close yet how substantial and sweeping trumps victory was. The writing style is engaging, the book kept me really interested, and it was short enough that it could be read in one plane flight. I thought it gave me a really good feel for the last month of the campaign, insight into both Clinton and Trumps final month and a very satisfying reading experience. However now I'm interested in dwelling deeper into this subject, and have found several other books that will go in more details, which is what is next in my reading list. I got this book in Kindle format. Hope this review is helpful, I don't typically write reviews, but I strongly recommend this book.

This book gives good background on the election and the people who saw Trump's win developing. What is particularly interesting is the "Deplorables" who were tracking early voting trends in "must win" states who were confident of a win in spite of all the pollsters who predicted a Hillary blowout.

I really enjoyed this book. This book gives a great outline of the 2016 race and presents a contrarian view to the general polling and political opinions of the 2016 Presidential race. If you supported Trump, this book will provide confirmation to what many supporters saw on the ground that wasn't reported in the media, if you supported Clinton, this book will provide critical information to understanding how Trump won and what really motivated his supporters.

I wish people would read instead of listening to news and other people's thoughts and opinions. If you're not there, if you're not part of the conversation and it isn't about you, find the facts and truth. Just don't accept what is written, shown to you. Challenge it, question it, and observe the facts and form your own thoughts and set of truths.

Political participants are very different from most of our population. It takes a very different mindset to be a good politician. This book did a remarkable job of helping us to understand what all transpired during this election.

Excellent synopsis of the campaign from the inside. Heavy on data information that is so much a part of modern campaigns.
