I bought this poncho for a trip to Disney where ponchos are notoriously expensive and Florida weather unpredictable. I selected this particular poncho after relying on the good reviews written here. It looked well constructed in the online photos. When I received it, it was thinner than anticipated and had a small pouch with a carabiner clip to attach the poncho carry bag to something and looked great for travel. I unfolded it and examined the zippers and weight of the poncho and then didn’t think anything of it until vacation time. The poncho failed within 1 minute of testing, in a sudden November rain. It zips comfortably, is large and roomy, but the material simply is not water resistant. It is mildly water repellent, meaning that if you dash five feet in a light rain you may not have time to notice that you are getting wet. Unfortunately for us, we were in a park and away from cover. My entire clothing was soaked through. I had to buy a poncho and hoodie from the gift shop. At best, these are water resistant within certain specific exposure parameters. However, this was not subjected to any unusually strong rain or many hours of testing. Perhaps it varies by batch based on where they source their material, but this was a complete waste of a purchase for me.
