So easy to install - instant use

I got this for photo editing on my Dell Optiplex. Took less than 10 minutes to install and was immediately recognized and ready to use by my editing software (ON1 Photo RAW) as soon as I opened it. It has made life so much easier - and it was a super value, too.

So, I built my first desktop after 12 years (I had built 50+ before that). Been a while... But, I needed something new and decided to try building again. Glad I did, came out great! But, video cards are super expensive right now! I am coming from a 7 year old laptop that died. It had an I7-4710hq, Nvidia GeForce 860M 4GB, & 16GB ram. My new build has a Ryzen 7 5800x, this Geforce 1030 2GB, & 32GB ram.

Now, the 860M was in a tiny 14" laptop. But, it was AMAZING. I use it mostly for editing and light gaming. No issues and did 4k x 60 no problems. This 1030, also does everything the same! In time, I will upgrade it. When prices come down some. For now, my new desktop is a beast for what I use it for!

I paid too much for this card (due to everything being high right now)... I paid about $150. I don't think you should pay more than $100 for this card (especially after this review as time goes on).

But again, it is a nice place holder for me for now.

Okay, so this graphics card is wonderful and actually capable of playing new games at medium 4k settings or high hd settings.
Here's the problem. If you're a person like me who likes to use large screen tv;s as computer monitors then you might find some issues with using this card with a 4k tv. Some 4k televisions support 4k at 60hz when it comes to things like streaming media players and blu-ray but not when it comes to pc's. The reason for this issue is not the graphics card or the tv, it is just an issue of the difference between tv and a computer monitor and is wh large screen computer monitors are so expensive.
The only way I know of around this issue is to set the fps to 30 Hz at 4k or at 50 Hz at 1080p or possibly 30 Hz at 1080p.
If you are using an hd tv and not a 4k tv then you should have no issue with this card at all and should be able to use the highest graphics settings on any game(only at 1080p of course)
Personally I consider this as an acceptable trade off for screen size but either way it has nothing to do with the graphics card itself.

Also for those who would like to know, this card is compatible with any Linux system and uses the noveu driver if you prefer not to use the proprietary one.

All in all I am very happy with this card. I would much prefer an ATI but an ATI equivalent to this card with gddr5 ram would cost at least $150 more, if one even exist.

Back in 2020 during covid I built 3 PCs for my daughters to game and during that GPUs were stupid expensive so spurlging thousands was not I'm the picture. I read reviews and put my mind to it. Here's what you need to know.
GO USED! EVEN SO I PAID $100/EA and with ryzen 5 and 16gb of ram they played: Paladins, PuBg, Fortnite, minecraft, roblox, Fnaf and more. Not only ULTRA bit medium to high.

Short these cards are great for budget builds I recently put in 6500xts and to be honest not much of an upgrade. I should've held out for another year and got them 3060......oh well lesson learned

Been using this card for about a year in a lil home computer I made for my living room. This is not a card for the best most demanding games. However I have been very surprised with its ability to run games like Warframe, Hades, and older titles like Red faction Guerilla and Just cause 2. I am really surpised how it handles Warframe. 50-60fps at 1080 with medium/low settings

At $140 id say its still a bit over priced but that's just the market now.
