3.0 out of 5 starsStrong contender for daily drinker but could be better.

I love coffee. I’ve tried all kinds. I can not afford to always drink the good stuff. I need a daily drinker. Let me talk about what this coffee is and what it isn’t.
It is a solid competitor in the $8/lb market. It doesn’t have any major flaws. It has a good price.
It isn’t great coffee. It isn’t standing toe to toe with the $15/12oz market.
It could though. It’s major problem is one of logistics. Fortunately, that is what amazon does best. The first mistake is no roasted on date. That is a huge red flag. Secondly, the label says good till a year from now. Sorry amazon. That will never be true of any coffee. You should fire the person who made that claim.
The coffee tasted excellent right out of the bag. Nutty, floral, & delicate. It tastes like a higher tier coffee. But with all coffee like this. It ages very fast once open. This coffee showed its true age after three days. All the subtle flavors left. The bright orange head in the French press was gone after a few days. Not over roasted or dead like Starbucks coffee but still stale. The coffee quickly becomes sensitive to grind and portion. To many beans and the body overwhelms the subtleness. Under ground and the lack of flavor notes leads to a watery taste. Over ground and the moutheness overpowers any disntiguishable taste.
Amazon, get it together. Get the data collected. Figure out how much you need and roast monthly. That is what you do best. Don’t put coffee the experts. You can’t. Out logistic them. That is what you do. You simple do not need to buy contenental/commodity level coffee and shelf it for a year as it sells. You are better than that. This coffee is just slightly under Kroger brand Ethiopian yirgacheffe. You can do better than that.
