Great Moka maker

This Moka Maker is a good one. The brand itself is one of the best in Europe. However, it does not work well on ceramic stovetops based on an electric system. it is mainly working for fire based stovetops. At least this was the experience with my stovetop. when the water started boiling the coffee maker slides on the stovetop and moved around.

I used the 6 cup espresso maker for 2 months, roughly 4 times a week. After few months I started noticing the inside of the top container started losing the coating. I have never used soap to clean it. Always used hot water, wipe it down and let it dry. And never put it in microwave. I am not sure what I did wrong here.

It is easy to use and clean and great flavor with beans roasted for espresso. But, very sad that it looks the this now (See pics). Hope I can get a replacement for this.

Best coffee maker I own

I started out with a Keurig 2.0. I really liked it but it was expensive to buy coffee for and the touch screen went blank after 2 years.
I got a French press and began to really enjoy my coffee. I made enough for 4 8 oz. Cups. Too much of a good thing. I got the Bialetti 6 cup and started making Lavazza cappuccino every morning. Cheaper by far than an espresso machine. I love this coffee pot. Highly recommend it. Can't wait to take it camping. Great price and quality made.
Note that a 6 cup Moka Pot is a typical big mug of American sized coffee. I don't fill the filter all the way. Only about 2/3rds of a filter basket. I have tried filling the boiler with hot water and cold. I saw no difference in taste. I heat half and half on another burner and forth it in the pan. I recommend cleaning after each use.

Cool Color but Not the Same Ride

Maybe it's because it is red, but this thing doesn't act like the original one. Flavor is still the same, imho. I don't know what "blending power" is - is that like something Bubbles can do from Power Puff Girls? Easy to clean - Bialettis are a weird shape and they are not easy to clean, but this one is like extra not easy. Plus the red has turned orange at the bottom. Anyway, I liek Moka pots, but sorta rethinking their place in my kitchen only cuz they are aluminum, they don't seem to wear well, they are hard to clean. They make delicious espresso tho... cannot dispute that.

Don't buy fell apart

The silver pot on the right is 12-15 yrs old used regularly & still looks great. The colored on which we bought so we could make 2 pots at once for coffee instead of the same pot twice. The colored one "ONLY ONE" month old as you can see fell apart, it leaked between the top & the bottom. Those 2 pieces up front are not supposed to fall out when you unscrew the top from the bottom. This has never happened to the silver one. As you can see the red paint has turned color in this short time of use

We bought this more as a decorative kitchen piece because of the Italian flag color scheme. Bialetti is well known for being one of the best espresso makers on the market. My Italian mother-in-law still has one she brought from Italy over 40 years ago. It's a simple design and if can appreciate making your own espresso, then this is what you want. On a related note, Bialetti is in the news as struggling financially and their future is uncertain. Now may be the time to pick up one of these versions of the Moka Express if you've been considering it.

What a cute little Red Mocha Pot!

I purchased this for travel. Today I seasoned it by brewing three pots of Maxwell House in bottled water on an electric burner. These went down the drain. The fourth pot I made for my husband (Maxwell House). It filled a 12 oz mug. He said it tasted very strong but good. Neither one of us noticed a metallic taste. Adding hot water would have made two mugs of regular strength coffee. The fifth pot I made with Black Cat Espresso freshly ground on medium fine. I poured this into a 12 oz mug which was waiting with 2/3 cup hot milk. I had about a 1/4 cup left in the pot. I think I could have made two milk based drinks because it was still a bit strong for me. I usually use two shots of espresso to 9 oz. of milk. The mocha pot coffee is not as yummy as that made by my espresso machine but much darker than pour over so much better if you want to make a latte in the motel room (you will need a hot plate) or in your RV.
If you are going to use it for large latte' I would definitely purchase the 6 cup pot unless you want it very light on coffee. I think the 3 cup would work well for one cappuccino or one 12 oz latte'.
Clean-up was not that difficult.... just use hot water and dry with a towel. Do not use soap on the aluminum pot. I am happy with my purchase and the coffee. To be honest, I just wanted the cute red pot!

Damn good cup of coffee

This is my first coffee upgrade from a standard french press, and having said that it makes a really good cup of joe. Now it should be said that this will NOT make real coffee,, but an espresso like drink. however, i have found that you can easily turn the concentrate, into a coffee substitute by diluting half (3 of the 6 "cups" ) about 40 60 concentrate to water ratio. obviously you can dilute it to taste, but this is the ratio that works for me.

The espresso from generic Folgers is really good, and drinkable.
One tip to change up the flavor slighly, is ive been adding mabye half a teaspoon of cinimin to my coffee, grounds. ive been finding it has been giving it a warmth that it didn't have before. Try it!

Fake or poor quality

Ok, it took me some time to figure out it is a fake. Or may be just the new normal for Bialetti.

I have read a lot of reviews and saw these 1-star ones saying it is fake. But I decided to give it a try hoping that will not be my case. WRONG.

Here are few observations:
1 The tricolor model changed its color on the bottom from red to orange on the very first use. There is a special small instruction paper (btw they accidentally put two of them in the box) saying that you should ALWAYS use the low heat on your stove to prevent discoloration. (LOL what?!)
2 No other instructions provided (people on the internet mention there are first use instructions in the original box saying you should dispose 3 first brews etc).
3 No spare gaskets in the box (I would think there should be ones as every spare original funnel comes with those.
4 The funnel feels cheap and the main thing about it - it has way too large holes. Even the coarse ground coffee easily gets into the bottom water tank, not even talking about the espresso fine grind;
5 The metal finish is not exactly what I saw on the internet. It is not too bad and it was hard to tell at the first glance but I did the deeper research and yeah, this is not how the good old bialetti moka pots look like inside;
6 The stamp on the button is only partly visible and there are other reviews saying the same (the ones I looked in Target store have the same issue, can’t see what is written on the bottom)
7 Tricolor pot should have the black-colored logo according to the bialetti com website. This one comes in white.
8 The logo painting quality is poor - the white fill isn’t solid (see the pic)
9 No round stamps on the inside of the lid;
10 Aluminium changed its color inside due to oxidation after the first use - this may be ok but concerning, hope it's safe to drink from it;

Result: returning it and looking for where to buy the genuine pot made in Italy. So far had no luck. Hope it’s not just because the poor quality is Bialetti’s new normal.

The paint burnt after one use

After just one use in a regular stove, the paint burnt. Every time I use it, the smell from the burnt paint is horrible. I can't return it because I used a forward courier to ship overseas.
