Not family friendly due to excessive violence and gore.
I didn’t find hardly anything to like in “Sweeney Todd”. The two stars, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp did well, as you’d expect, but maybe too well. And I never got the point. Is it just about revenge? Then why all the gore? What was with the makeup? I didn’t get the point of making Carter’s and Depp’s characters go progressively more bizarre and scarecrow looking as the story progressed. I apologize for this up front, but I do love musicals and this one was the worst I ever saw – the music was just awful and neither Carter nor Depp could carry a tune in a bucket. Apparently. a lot of people liked it, and you may, too, but I didn’t. It had no redeeming values, so I don’t recommend it at all.
