2.0 out of 5 starsVery Low Quality Zippers, Will Not Last

This is my first Amazon review. I ordered the black 2x. I am 5’2” and around 190 lbs. I gave this jacket 2 starts because it fit and it was warm. When I took the jacket out of the box, the first thing I noticed was the extremely cheap zippers on the two outer pockets. It was hard not to focus on because they are literally the cheapest zippers that exist. Even at this price point, they could have spent 75 cents on the zipper instead of the 5 cents this likely cost. The outer fabric also seems a bit cheap, but I took a chance since I paid $120, which is on the low end for a ski jacket. I wore it yesterday skiing with my son. The second time I went up the toe rope, my ski passes along with the zipper handle ripped off and ended up in the snow. Pic attached. I had owned a few columbia jackets in the past. I have attached a photo of one of the jackets and the zippers they used to use. My first time buying Columbia in 20 years and the quality is about 10% of what it used to be. Perhaps they offer this jacket at this price even though it’s lacking in quality and endurance to have a more affordable option? maybe the other colors are somehow made better? I don’t know, but the quality of this jacket compared to my 20 year old columbia jacket is beyond sub par. I guess you get what you pay for. The only zipper that was good, is the one that attaches the shell to the inner fleece, which is not really fleece, but is warm and soft. All the other ones are awful. Obviously I will be returning this jacket, and am once again searching for a new jacket. I would rather pay more and have a quality jacket that I can ski with for many years to come. This jacket is certainly not going to do that for me. Sadly, I am very disappointed and discouraged from buying Columbia products in the future. If my vintage Columbia fit me, I would just wear that!
