Rubber bands? Well, yes, fortunately they hold the heatsink in place until the adhesive on the thermal pads sets. I got this because my NVMe drive would throttle when I was doing a performance test. After installation, I got all the way through the test at full speed. A finger touch of the heatsink came away without a burnt finger.

Really, for something like $5, this is a no-brainer. The adhesion is good, the heat pad itself is quite thick (quality product), and the metal heat sink looks fantastic (and classy) on your motherboard.

Time will tell on the silicone bands' longevity, but I don't suspect this will be an issue. I find that these perform almost exactly the same as most motherboards' integrated heatsink solutions. This is to say that even under very heavy loads for the entire system, my nvme drives never get above 50c. Recommended.

They need to come up with a better mounting system for holding the heat sinks to the SSD board. My coolers fell off in just over 1 month, the rubber cracked on the rubber band and allow the heat sink to just fall off.

These are a great value buy but you're going to need to pry the bands around your SSD with a screwdriver to get them in place.

I want to rate this higher but after spending 5 frustrating minutes prying the bands over the heatsink and SSD with a screwdriver I just can't. It seems like someone should have actually tried installing these before mass producing the design.

Mediocre thermal transfer-displacement

Precise fit and design. Rubber banding inflexible, two of four provided easily tore under minimal stress. In an effort to maintain thermal longevity a less flexible banding material was used. Thermal pad is too thick, inhibits thermal transfer. Replaced thermal pad with aluminum paste increasing transfer-displacement area lowering temperature 5-8 degrees Celsius overall.
