5.0 out of 5 starsFantastic Thermal Paste
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on June 27, 2019
Based on my experiences with other thermal pastes and reading test results from various tech sites, I decided to give this one a try. Here are my conclusions:

1.) This one is superior in terms of application. The included spatula is a nice touch, but I don't think it is needed. I know that thermal paste application discussions can get heated, but it is really clear to me that the "big blob" method works well, especially with this paste, because of its consistency. If you worship at different thermal paste application method altar, please don't flame me.
2.) This little tube is good for at least four applications. And that includes large GPU dies and large IHSs. Even if you applying it like that guy from The Verge. Don't be like that guy; seriously!
3.) The thermal performance of this paste is top tier. You can find pastes that are better by 2C, but not without spending more money to get less product and/or having to do some actual work to apply it.
4.) Based on the non-drying nature I would feel comfortable using the rest of this tube in a year or two. I have tossed many half full tubes because the bit that was in the syringe tip had hardened. Yeah, I could poke a hole in the tip to get past the dried bit, but I would not want to risk having a microscopic blob of hard paste compromise my thermal interface. I am confident I will get to use the last of this tube of product eventually.
5.) My results (@22C ambient):
a.) i7-5820k @1.32V, 4.7 GHz: idle: 27C, 100% load from AIDA64: 70c max. Yeah, that sounds high, but that is a monster overclock on a monster (for it's time) CPU. That is pushing nearly 250W through a 140W part. Previously I was using a Dark Rock Pro 3, and was getting more like 30C at idle and 90c under load. Of course I could not even get such a high overclock at all on air.
b) GTX1080 @2025 GHz, mem @ 11,400 GHz effective 26c idle 40c at full load. Previously (with stock air cooler) I was getting 35c idle and 85c load (with thermal throttling occurring frequently)
6.) While the included spatula is unnecessary in my religion, it is super useful for mixing epoxy.

Here are the things I don't like about this thermal paste:
1.) It is not RGB. I want RGB thermal paste.
2.) It tastes terrible.
3.) It is not an effective contraceptive.

However, you should really stick to the intended use. If you do you will be happy with the results

Update: I am buying more because I am almost out. If you have one or two jobs to do and you want to have some in reserve, 4g size is ideal. If you are like me, you should get the 8g size. They are both around $10 if you use the correct Amazon listing.

1.0 out of 5 starsWorse than OE
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on August 26, 2019
Bought the Arctic MX-4 based on glowing reviews since my Alienware 15R3 runs on the hot side (95 Celsius when gaming). Did the paste the first time, didn't see a drop in temperature as it was still hovering around 95. Since others were getting 5 to 10 degrees drops, I thought I applied it incorrectly. Opened up the laptop and repasted the second time a week later. Second repaste didn't change a thing. Ok fine. $10 wasted as long as the computer runs at the OE level.

I'm now 3 weeks into the 2nd repaste. When I play AC Odyssey now, the system starts thermal throttling as soon as the game world is loaded. On OE paste the system ran hot, but throttling was not an issue. With this paste, AC Odyssey is unplayable. Now I'm looking for another paste to replace this piece of junk.

I wish you fortune in the repastes to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A most under-appreciated item.
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on July 5, 2021

I am about a week on the other side of a recent system build. Meaning that the new system has been in service for about a week. Why did I label this an under-appreciated item? Because without it the CPU probably wouldn't have lasted a minute. Ok, the truth is that if one is building on a motherboard built this century, then the board itself is probably smart enough to shut things down before the CPU cooks. But if one has built a system in the past year, then one knows just how difficult it is to get the core components at present. So, yeah, cooking the CPU would have a more profound and less recoverable connotation.

Enter, thermal paste. More specifically, enter one of the most recent formulations of thermal paste. I chose this one because it has significantly higher thermal transmission gradient than the best formulations available just a few years ago, and came in at half the price of its next competitor (at the time of purchase). In reality, they are all priced about the same, but many come with half the volume of stuff inside the tube. And suppose one makes a mistake the first time had needs a do-over (that didn't happen to me, but I prepared for it none the less). So, at about $9 for 4 ml; if this were gasoline it would cost over $170K to fill a 20 gal tank! The other guys were selling 2 ml for the same price so thankfully my car doesn't run on this stuff.

But not using it can spend about $200 to $20,000 (Intel Xeon and AMD Epyc CPU builds can start touching this magnitude of cash) in less than a minute. So far, I have stressed my system during video rendering and compositing on a few occasions - it's ok, that's what it was built to do. The CPU is factory rated at 90 degrees C - that's almost hot enough to boil water, but that is the factory established LIMIT. Using this paste along with a liquid-cooled thermal management scheme, my CPU has never gone above 61C during any operation to date including the most stressful. The thermal paste is the transmitter between the CPU and the heatsink. So no cooling strategy will be any more efficient than the paste will allow.

Another reason for purchasing a tube with extra paste; some builds use more than one CPU, and sometimes there's an options to provide additional cooling to the GPU. M.2 memory tends to run pretty warm and use heatsinks as well. The point being, anytime there's a heatsink, using thermal paste at the junction will enhance the heatsink's ability to cool the component - the better the paste, the more efficient the cooling. And cooler components run faster and smoother. Solid State memory slows down significantly at higher temperatures, it's called throttling for anyone looking at their first build. So I probably used less than 1 ml to install the CPU - it's more art than exact science, but having more left over is helpful if one has numerous heatsinks to treat during the build.

This paste emerged from the tube in a predictable manner - which is good considering the cost per ounce. It came with a mini-spatula for spreading. It sort of resembles a pizza peel if one were providing their pet hamster with its own pizza oven, but I digress. Spreading the paste prior to installing the CPU cooler was very easy and controllable. I was able to achieve edge to edge over the CPU without any dripping to the motherboard - nice, neat, mess-free application. There's also a rating for noise level....ok....um...this paste is pretty quiet. (Amazon asks reviewers to rate a few areas that are not necessarily presented in the public review space other than as an aggregate score).

My CPU was at 24C (room temperature) when I powered up this afternoon. It is now at 37C and hasn't gone above 43C during this session. That was probably during Windows boot up. It runs typically between 34C and 38C during low demand. I have read some reviews in which folks describe their systems as running nominally ay 70C! (Methinks these are gaming rigs under full load). So, I guess based on all of this, this paste is pretty effective. But it can only be as effective as the rest of the cooling system it supports. At least I can confidently say that it is not likely to be a weak link - and it has a rating for efficacy over 8 years! I would purchase it again - but I wouldn't fill the gas tank with it.

My son's playstation kept shutting off and it was extremely loud. I did some research online and we cleaning it out really well but that didn't really do much. Ordered this, applied it and magically works again and isn't loud. It's been almost 3 months since applying it and it is still going strong.

I have used kryonaught, Corsair and Noctua thermal
Pastes on a regular old 3770 using bitsum performance settings and I am going back to this whole having brand new Noctua and thermal grizzly pastes in my drawer. I got the best clocks with this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great thermal compound!

This compound brought the temps in my mini PCs down a good bit compared to the factory compound. And when I say good bit I mean anywhere from 10ยฐC to 25ยฐC. It's easy to spread and is non curing. It's also not electrically conductive, which is very important for a couple of my mini PCs because of the type of CPU and heatsink used. I wish I had found this sooner, as it's much better than the Arctic Silver 5 I used to use.

I think the spatula is an unneeded and unrecommended accessory as spreading can cause air bubbles. That being said this is the best thermal compound I've used.

After cleaning out my 5 year old PS4, it was in desperate need of new paste. This works great and my PS4 doesn't run anywhere near as hot as it used to.
