I already have a 12-cup Kitchen Aid food processor, however, I got tired of lugging it out of storage when I had to use it, because it was too big for my counter (and most jobs). This machine was purchased because it would fit on the counter neatly. Now, I find I actually use this appliance much more often. This model, unlike my other one, is extremely easy to clean. That's a big plus for me. Another thing I like is how the lid fits on the bowl. The lid sits inside the bowl so if you are doing something with flour, it stays in the bowl instead of making a big mess on your counter. As to it's durability, I can't make any determination because I haven't had it long enough, but it does seem to be up to the jobs I use it for.
UPDATE--I can now speak for the quality. B-A-D. I didn't even have this processor 1 year and it didn't get heavy use, but it died in the middle of making a cookie dough. A food processor should be able to handle that and this didn't. Pity because I really liked the design. I expected much better from Kitchenaid. Replaced with a Cuisinart; and that IS up to the job. Don't waste your time with this one.
