Best pillow for neck stenosis
August 23, 2018
A number of years ago I was diagnosed with neck stenosis which is a narrowing of the nerve channel in the spine. I was a back sleeper all my life and suddenly found that I had to sleep on my side to avoid paralyzing neck pain. From that time I have been searching for a pillow. Due to this condition I can't sleep through the night. I have to wake up, flip over, slide a pillow around, sometimes change pillows as I seem to need a very thin pillow laying on my right side and a thicker pillow laying on my left side. For 2 years I have been using a massage table face pillow to sleep on my right side. I have to shim that up sleeping on my left side with various folded towels. I am therefore away a lot in transition from side to side at night
I ordered this pillow and another one on a whim. I had little hope that there was a solution to my problem. the Pure Comfort pillow looked funny so tried the other one first but found no relief. After about 2 weeks I decided to try the Pure Comfort. The first night it was better than anything I have had in the past but it has continued to get better. I have the soft version. The 2 additional height adjusting shims are not necessary on my home mattress but I do use them in my motor home as the mattress is different. The ear holes are much larger than the pictures indicate. For the last 6 months I had developed ear pain, first on my left side, then on my right. Since I have been using the Pure Comfort the ear pain has vanished. I like this pillow so much that I recommended it to a friend that also has neck stenosis. When I saw him again I asked about the pillow and he beamed and said it worked great and he loved it. He bought the medium density version as he is younger and in better shape than myself.
