How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat alternative compared to buying a new cam

My Nikon, P 900 took a fall a few months back.. broke off the tripod mount screw on camera… seen this on YouTube and it works perfect for my camera, I had to add on a little extra cushion to enhance the tightness of the Ring around the camera, but it works like a charm! Thank you!

3.0 out of 5 starsDoes not clamp as well as expected.
Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2022
I got this as a lower price option for my canon 300mm f4 IS which has a diameter of 80mm. The diameter of my mount measured at 80.5mm when fully closed and there was 0.5mm of felt. The felt is not very sturdy so I have to add a 0.5mm spacer to make it hold strong. This might vary between item, but just something to consider when buying this. For the price it works very well.

Also, the c slip that holds the screw on fell off in shipping so I had to re attach it, but in general the felt glue and spring clip do not feel like they will last. The actual metal construction is very good however.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits the Nikon P950 lens perfectly without any modification
Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2022

A good, sturdy piece of kit essential for attaching front heavy (big zoom lens) cameras to tripods to get a more central stabilization. I ordered this on the strength of other reviewers that it fit their P900 cameras well, but they had to add Velcro to the inside to get a better fit. I wouldn't have minded having to do that, but it turns out that either they've since changed the specs of this item or, the lens on the 950 is bigger than the lens on the 900.
Either way, there is already a soft fur-like material on the inside of the ring and it fits the P950 lens very snugly without attaching anything else to it.
I'm very pleased with this product. Be aware though you wouldn't want to leave this ring on the lens all the time - i.e., if you're taking pictures hand held, because it adds considerable weight to the front end of the camera for hand held shots and makes the camera less comfortable to hold.
It doesn't get in the way of any camera controls.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great universal clamp/support

Pro's; super handy as a handle or grip to support the camera. It works very well as a tripod mount. The price and quality is good and I'm sure it will remain on my camera for years to come.

Con's; the clamp is a little large for the Nikon P900 lens, I had to add a little material to the I.D. of the clamp to get enough holding pressure on the camera lens. Not that big of a deal because now I don't have the metal clamp contacting the plastic camera/lens housing. I used the soft side of some Velcro strips to fill the gap....works great. One thing you will have to add to your camera bag is a wrench to loosen the clamp should you want to turn your camera 90 degrees for a vertical shot (unless you are using a Ball Mount of course).

5.0 out of 5 stars Nikon P900

Pay no attention to the dissenters claiming you should use the camera body head mount. You already know that when the lens is extended, even with a good tripod, the slightest breeze will cause a wiggle. This mount does the trick on the P900, but you do need to do as suggested and run some velcro on the inside of the loop. When put together, the mounting point is not far from the balance point, even with the lens extended. I doubt one can get so much stability for such a low price. I've even found that the extra weight gives a bit more stability to my shaky old hands. Enjoy.

The attachment, for the tripod, on my husband's Nikon broke. To fix the problem would have cost a lot. So he researched remedies and found this mount ring which was $15. It works perfectly and saved so much money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not fit the lens stated in the listing

How exactly does this have a 4/5 rating? I ordered this specifically for the lens stated in the title, the Nikon AF 80-200mm f2.8. No matter what I do, it will not fit the lens, it's too small for the rubberized area and too large for the other sections of the lens. You need to change your title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Save your mounting hole from breaking. Buy this.

I got this as a preventive measure seeing that the mount hole on these heavy Nikons tend to break. Metal construction in sturdy making the price outstanding seeing that Nikon charges $220 retail (just saw an oem for $80) I use this with my 899 gram p900. Makes a huge difference in lens stability as well. The diameter is a bit bigger then the lens body of the p900 so I just used the soft side of some black velcro and it snugs up perfectly. I bought another one for my friends b700 that has a broken mount hole. Hasn't arrived yet so we'll see how it fits. I may have to double up the velcro. Very happy with this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far it works for me

Got this delivered in one day, pretty good. With a small and light mirrorless camera, any sizable zoom lens will cause the ‘drooping’ problem on a tripod with ball head. Unless the lens comes with a mount, one way to deal with it is to use a 3rd party tripod mount. If the collard is slightly larger than the lens, fill it with a strip of form. It is another piece to carry but works for me so far. The mount is made of metal, appears to be of good quality. Hope to get a few years of use from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best way to make it Fit a Nikon COOLPIX P900

if you want it to fit good you need 1 thing 1 thick hair band.
walmart 5 in 1 package a few bucks,
thick and soft so it dont chip the paint on the camera. took the excess and rolled it back.
people are using Velcro straps which i would not do, its not soft and it has to overlap, the over lap will cause a high spot and make it not tighten down evenly or could dent the camera on the high spot if tighten to much, the hair band is 1 peace and has some cushion to it and it grips very well with out slipping , its perfect.
the threads go all the way in and starts to tighten in just the right spot.
