I purchased this item to use while on vacation at Sanibel Island Florida. Sanibel Island is known for one of the best shelling sites in the world. After arriving at our RV Park on the Island, I found that the walk to the beach was 1 mile round trip. I donned the socks prior to walking to the beach to test them on fitting, comfort and integrity of the material. What I didn't realize on my walk that I would be walking on pavement, HOT pavement as well as cemented sidewalks. Once at the beach, I walked into the water and because of the banded strap around the ankle, no sand penetrated the socks while I enjoyed my time on the beach. VERY pleased with that experiment! The walk back from the beach I started feeling like a blister was forming on the pad of my right foot, as the road was still hot. I tried to walk on grass as much as possible but it was resident property I was walking on. Once back at our RV, I did develop a blister because the non slip material on the bottom of the sock had melted from the heat in that particular spot. The next 5 days, I wore the socks when shelling at other beaches on the island. They took a beating from walking on the shells in the surf and on the beach. Some of the threading may have been cut by shells and the non stick bottom was well worn away but overall, they are a great product, I just abused them more than the average beach walker. SO, if you're just looking for socks to wade in the surf or walk ON the beach or play beach sports, these socks are the bomb!
