I took so long to write this review because I already had some Kashmiri Mirchi powder that a friend brought back from India. (She bought the chillies and had them ground). Born and brought up in India, Kashmiri Chlli power is an oft used spice.
I opened this packet when my supply ran out and oh, what a sad let down. They have the gall to call this trash 'Kashmiri Mirchi ' What a joke. It has absolutely ZERO flavor, and even less color. Not even half a tablespoon added to a dish made the slightest bit of difference. Kashmiri Chillies are not very hot but they contribute a deep red color to what ever they are added to (similar to what Annato does).
Indian companies that sell such junk should be ashamed of themselves. But like, most of the rest of the world the only thing that counts is the bottom line. This is going in the garbage and hopefully I can find something a little better.
