I was on the fence about spending this much on a blender, but I am very happy I did.The main reason for my purchase was because I wanted to make healthy smoothies/meal replacements. I had the nutri ninja bullet and it was great for protein shakes, but could not chop up ice, veggies/fruits that well and I hated holding it down to blend.

I am in college and I live alone so getting the smaller & cheaper blender made sense to me. It does the same blending that all the other models can do, but without the fancy extras such as touch screen and pre-programmed setting.
This blender was a great upgrade for me and because of how much it can do I will be taking full advantage of it.

Conclusion: If you are looking for a blender that can make small servings for only yourself or for you and a friend then look no further. While this blender is not cheap, it is the best blender you can get for this price.
-Also, I have had my Amazon account for several years and I have only written 1 or 2 reviews. My reason for this review was because I spent hours on hours looking at reviews on different blenders and could not make up my mind. I have had a wonderful experience with this product so far and I hope my review can help make someones decision a little easier for them.

This blender is incredibly disappointing. I can't make a smoothie without needing a lot of liquid. It's also incredibly loud. My boyfriend has a 5200 that's way older than my E310 and I couldn't believe how quiet it is. How is my unit newer and louder?! He can also make smoothies, nut cheeses, and nut butters without having to use liquid or as much liquid as me. New products should be improvements on older products. I want to return it and buy an older model.

3.5 stars. Always wanted a Vitamix, but it is hard to pay the price it costs. I was thrilled to find this one at a reasonable price (still high for a blender). I had already worn out the Ninja Professional making smoothies in just a year and figured this was worth the investment. Is it powerful? More powerful than my Ninja, yet I still find pieces that were not completely ground out. Not even half as loud as the Ninja. The cons would have to be that this is a low end Vitamix, and I have to keep my hands on it to brace it down as it is blending. Otherwise it would move all over the place. I have to stop a couple times during blending to stir back in all the parts of the smoothie that have been pushed to the side and will not blend. It is strong, but I expected everything to be ground out smooth and many times they are not. Overall not a bad blender, I just wish I would have gone ahead and spent the extra money to buy the higher end blender.

Blends well but frustrating design

Ok, the pro: it blends things really, really well. I get a way better blend than with my food processor. The motor/blender functionality can't be beat.

Why the three stars? The design is really poor and makes using it a frustrating experience.

- The canister doesn't lock into place, so you have to hold it the entire time it's blending, otherwise the power of the blender throws it off. There are four pads that catch it, but there's plenty of wiggle room, and if you let the force of the motor move it, it makes a terrible grating sound, like the motor isn't attached or aligned properly anymore. Really scarey.

- The sides are terrible for scraping things out. When I make any sort of liquid thing that doesn't just all come out on it's own, like a dressing, there's maybe 1/4 cup of stuff left on the walls and bottom of the machine. The square-ish sides mean a normal spatula doesn't work to get the stuff out of the corners. I bought one of Vitamix's skinny spatulas that's supposed to fit in the corners, but you basically have to go on each side of the corner, so 8 times. Super slow and frustating. Then there's the stuff at the bottom of the blade, so you have to rotate the blades out of the way to get the stuff underneath.

- The space at the bottom of the blade means your food will not be uniformly blended. The tamper works to get stuff above the blades down, but I've fished out unblended food from below the blades.

- Stuff leaks out the top. I returned my first Vitamix because when I did the cleaning water test with the canister half-full, water leaked out the top from the sides. I got it exchanged and now the lid locks better, but the middle part still oozes liquid, even at half capacity.

Fundamentally, it does what it needs to do - blend food - but the design makes the experience of using it frustrating rather than delightful, which is pretty unacceptable at this price point. I would imagine there are other high-powered blenders that have solved these problems and are maybe even less expensive.

Dope blender. I pureed soup to a velvety texture in 30 seconds. Then made a lemon slushy. Super easy to clean, assemble. Fits under kitchen cabinet. I didn't think it was too loud. The container shape is still narrow, even though its shorter, so some of the problems that others have had with the short fat containers are avoided. I'm still figuring out how to use the pulse button, or why its even there. I highly recommend this blender, and unlike other reviewers here I was not provided with a free product. Just a dude who likes his new blender.

I'm not even sure where to begin on how bad this appliance is. At the most basic level, I just hope we're allowed to return this thing after having tried many times to use it. $350 was a lot of money to shell out, and all these amazing reviews made it sound like this thing was magical. Have any of you ever tried another blender? Is there something you enjoy about the blade spinning freely in its self-made air pocket within your unblended ingredients? What's with the plastic sword thing? Do you like manual effort in your blending projects? I'm baffled at what any upside to this thing is. My last blender was $40. I'd push a button and walk away and a minute or 2 later I'd come back to a container full of blendedness. I didn't have to sit and control the speed knob like I'm on a motorcycle in Boston rush hour traffic. I didn't have to jam a plastic sword thing in the top like I'm trying to wake up an uncooperative zoo animal. Anyway...
This thing is awful. The entire blend process requires a ton of manual effort as mentioned above. You have to hold the thing or it will scoot itself all over the place. The on/off control is super touchy. Twice I had something on the counter bump into it and flip it on and whoosh ingredients everywhere. The speed control is horrible. 0-4, barely moves. One tiny fraction past 4, you've hit ludicrous speed. (I think 8 will take you to plaid but I never had the guts to try). It's basically $350 for an item you have to turn on and off repeatedly and shake all over the place and curse at. It's an expensive shake weight. Then there's the joy of cleaning it. Good luck. Wear a chain mail glove if you're going to reach in there.
For $70 I picked up a competitor's model that has a tower of spinning death blades that allows me to hit a button, walk away, and return to a container full of blended love. It has little suction cups to the counter top so I don't even watch it. Well I did the first time just because it had been so long since I saw a blender actually work, I was mesmerized. I'm pretty sure I could liquify a pair of flip flops in this thing. All for $70. That's $280 cheaper than this thing. Push a button. Walk away.
Oh and the death blade tower is removable, so pouring and cleaning is super easy. I suppose you could also use it to defend yourself against a kitchen invader in a pinch.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't buy this product. It's really really bad.

Quick and easy to use, quick and easy to clean

The only negative thing to say is, I would like if they had a better pour spout to prevent drips. Other than that, we've had it for a few weeks and have loved it. We've thrown in tons of different fruits and veggies without having to chop them up, they blend up in a minute. We've only had to use the tamper once and that was when we put spinach on top instead of in the middle of other ingredients. I've made almond butter twice and it couldn't have been easier. That took 1-2 minutes, threw in almonds and nothing else, made it super creamy and smooth. Had a hard time getting it all out, more was left behind than I would have liked. Clean up couldn't be easier. I was not looking forward to cleaning it after the almond butter, but even that was easy. I put warm water with a drop of dish soap in it, blended on high for about 30 seconds, dumped the water and did that again and there was just the smallest amount of butter left towards the top of the container that I had to wipe with a sponge. I haven't even used it on max power yet. I think it goes up to 10 and I haven't needed to go above 6. It's pretty loud on the higher powers, but it's a blender so I would expect that. I would highly recommend this.

Bought this about a month ago. Love it so far! A big reason I bought this model was because it was a little cheaper and I read quite a few reviews that said it fit under the kitchen cabinets (which it does). Yes, it's a little loud when you crank it up to 10, but I think that's to be expected with a powerful motor. So far, I've used it for grinding coffee beans, making bulletproof coffee every morning, a smoothie every afternoon and yesterday I riced some cauliflower in it for a recipe. It comes with a tamper to push things down if needed and that has worked great. I'm looking forward to shredding chicken, doing pancake batter and making 2 ingredient bagels and pizza dough from Weight Watchers in it to see how those work. I'm also looking forward to donating my previous cheap blender, my coffee grinder and hand blender. I've already gotten rid of my food processor. This appliance may cost more, but it can do SO many things, I believe it's totally worth it.

The greatest blender there is!

I have gone through 3 $50 blenders in the past 3 years. After the 3rd died, I took a few months to think about what my blender needs were and how I wanted to proceed with replacing yet another blender. I polled all of my friends and co-workers, and was told to take the plunge and invest in a Vitamix. Though it made me nauseous to spend so much money on one item when I am unsettled and am still living in apartments, I finally hit the order button when Amazon had a sale on this model for $299 plus free next day shipping.

That was 2 weeks ago, and I have used my Vitamix every day since to make smoothies or homemade acai bowls. While it's going to take a lot more than that to pay for itself, it blows all of the other blenders I've had out of the water. Here are some of the reasons why I love it:

1. It's SO easy to clean. I don't have a dishwasher, so this was important to me. I considered a Ninja because they're more reasonably priced, but a lot of them have multiple blades and it seemed to difficult to hand wash them without slicing up my hands every morning. With the Vitamix, all you do is rinse it out with cold water, fill it up with warm water, add a drop of dish soap, and let it blend itself clean. It's hassle free even in the mornings before work!
2. It blends everything smoothly. No more icky spinach chunks or chia seeds in my teeth.
3. Because it's so easy, I've been eating so much healthier in the mornings instead of grabbing a breakfast bar on the go.

The only thing I will say is that it is really loud. I wear ear plugs to sleep and I honestly leave them on while blending my morning breakfast. I am sure my college-aged neighbors hate me every morning, but I tolerate their drunk antics at night, so we're even in my eyes.

I know that I can use this thing for a lot more than just smoothies and acai bowls, but I'm not sure if it can beat my food processor for all of the tougher jobs like homemade nut butters, so for now I'll probably stick to using it for my daily breakfast. If you're tired of spending money on blenders that just don't cut it and want something low-maintenance and easy to clean, this is for you! Based on how hardy it is, I'm convinced it's going to last years.

Not up to Vitamix standards

I was expecting a much better blender. I realize this one is the bottom price point for Vitamix, but it performs very poorly. It takes much too long and too much effort for a simple smoothie with ice and fruit.
