5.0 out of 5 starsWorks like a charm!

This is an amazing PSU from evga. I had a 750w psu before but it wasn't enough and my computer kept encountering random shut downs while gaming. As I was looking for a new sfx psu my decision boiled down to the cooler master sfx v850 gold or this from evga. Even though the cooler master was about $50 cheaper, I went with this one because it would be delivered sooner. And I do not regret it one bit. After replacing my psu I have encountered zero issues. I've also heard about the cooler master unit having eratic fan curves and noise issues with the fan. The fan on this evga unit is whisper quiet, only audible when stress it. If you're on the fence about buying this psu for your system, pull the trigger. You won't regret it.

1.0 out of 5 starsIncredibly Short Cables
Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2020
I purchased the smallest Micro ATX chassis you can buy. It has the SFX power supply mount on the bottom of the motherboard tray. These cables are SO short they cannot go around a motherboard and make a ] shape. Its about 3 inches to short. And obviously you can't go across the motherboard if you have a real video card. Which I do. Incredibly disappointing. I would only buy this PSU if your case has the 24 pin motherboard tray and the PSU making a straight shot to one other. Otherwise it will be entirely to short.

1.0 out of 5 stars Caught on Fire

Purchased this PSU for a build for my father, nothing crazy just a standard office machine, upon arrival the PSU cords were too short for a normal ATX mid-tower frustrating but not a large problem as we got some cabel extenders that matched the build. HOWEVER, AFTER LESS THAN TWO MONTHS THIS PSU CAUGHT ON FIRE, this machine was on a solid table, nothing blocking the PSU airflow nothing blocking any airflow! When we went to power on the machine smoke started billowing out of the PSU, we instantly turned the machine off and were able to save the rest of the machine but the power supply is toast, don't buy! just get something from another brand. I love EVGA but this is really disappointing.

I have had to RMA this twice so far for coil whine issues, the latest one EVGA sent me is still noisy, hopefully it will not get louder or I will be on number four. Never buying EVGA products again this has been awful

1.0 out of 5 stars Motherboard Power Cables are TOO SHORT!
Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2021
Size: 550WStyle: GMPattern Name: Power SupplyVerified Purchase
Why so stingy on the length of the motherboard cables? I finally got my motherboard, an Asus Prime B550-Plus which is a standard ATX form-factor and with the power supply in my Fractal Design Focus G ATX Mid Tower Case the power supply mounts below the motherboard and the 24-pin motherboard power cable is TOO SHORT to reach from the PSU to the motherboard. If it was about 2 inches longer it would make it, although even then it would be stretched so tightly across the minimum distance from the PSU to the motherboard that I doubt I could fit any expansion cards in at the same time. I'm extremely disappointed by this because I can't afford to build the entire PC at once so I've been piecing it together slowly and have had this PSU in the case for a few months to only now discover that the most important cable is too short. All of the other cables in the box seem plenty long. It includes obsolete molex connectors - just remove those to offset the cost of lengthening the power cable so we have some damn options here! Now I need to figure out if I can order just the cable I need or if I need to return the entire PSU and hope they actually take it back after this long. Never got to power it on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extreme Coil Whine While Gaming
Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2021

Product: EVGA Supernova 850 GM SFX Power Supply

Build quality (on the surface) appeared great. Cables were nice, a touch stiff, but good quality. Operation seemed reliable and the fan was silent or quiet. However, things changed once you launched any game or rendering software, in which your room/office would be overwhelmed with a high pitched "bzzzzzz" sound coming out of this power supply. So loud, in fact, that I couldn't hear any case or graphics card fans through the noise. You literally had to wear noise cancelling headphones to enjoy being near this thing, if gaming. I think this counted as coil whine, but I had legitimate safety concerns about this thing and its internal components and swapped it back out with my older SST-SX700-PT (quiet while under load, btw). This all occurred while running stock "out of the box" settings on my hardware (no user overclocks). Maybe it was a bad apple, but I see other reviews on here with similar experiences (hint hint EVGA). I returned it to amazon as defective and hope they accept it for a refund, as this will not be plugged back in at my house.

I had another branded SFX PSU start to die on me so I ordered this one to replace it. After installing it would not even POST the computer. Ordered a replacement and the same issue happened. Thought my computer was FUBAR until I bought a PSU in a brick and mortar store and tried it and it worked just fine. I've never had an issue with EVGA products before but this was wild.

1.0 out of 5 stars Main power cable is WAY TOO SHORT
Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2022
Size: 450WStyle: GMPattern Name: Power SupplyVerified Purchase
The motherboard cable for this supply is laughably short. I don't know why they bother to include an SFX-ATX adapter plate when there is NO WAY this would ever work in any normal-sized ATX build. If you are building anything other than an ultra-compact system, then avoid this unit. Even with an ultra-compact system, you better hope the design of your case is such that the back of the supply is super close to the motherboard connector. Shame on Amazon and EVGA for not including CABLE LENGTHS in the item description!

Cables are to short to connect power to the motherboard and cpu. Unless your MB has power for the cpu and motherboard at the bottom of the board near PSU don't bother purchasing this item

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible noise under load
Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2022

The media could not be loaded.
This PSU is nice and quiet when idle. And the fan doesn't turn on until it gets warm which is a nice touch, but the second you start up a game or hit your GPU with a heavy load it starts making a TERRIBLE noise! See my video. I bought a Corsair SFX 750 PSU to replace it; even though it's 100 watts less it's worth it because the new Corsair is silent even under full load.
I may have gotten a bad one but this is enough for me to never buy an EVGA PSU again. I've always bought Corsair PSU's and they've always been good quality. This was the first time I tried an EVGA and evidently was a mistake.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fan Troubles
Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2020
Size: 650WStyle: GMPattern Name: Power SupplyVerified Purchase
This is a cool little power supply, easy to install and left plenty of space in my case to route cables. When it starts up it runs great. A problem started to occur when the power supply started to warm up and the fan turned on. A consistant ticking noise starts when the fan turns on. After noticing it I called amazon and filed at support claim and tried to fix it. They then directed me to EVGA and after a little time finally had a chance to call. After getting through to tech support, and after trying a couple of things, (like spin the fan, look into it and see if there was anything touching) they told me to try and remove the graphics card, I had to re-explain that it was the power supply. To which they told me there was nothing I could and to return it or RMA it. ONE BIG HEADACHE. My first time at trying an EVGA product, and I can say I wont be buying another in the future.
