How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsWorks like a charm!
Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2021
This is an amazing PSU from evga. I had a 750w psu before but it wasn't enough and my computer kept encountering random shut downs while gaming. As I was looking for a new sfx psu my decision boiled down to the cooler master sfx v850 gold or this from evga. Even though the cooler master was about $50 cheaper, I went with this one because it would be delivered sooner. And I do not regret it one bit. After replacing my psu I have encountered zero issues. I've also heard about the cooler master unit having eratic fan curves and noise issues with the fan. The fan on this evga unit is whisper quiet, only audible when stress it. If you're on the fence about buying this psu for your system, pull the trigger. You won't regret it.

1.0 out of 5 starsIncredibly Short Cables
Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2020
I purchased the smallest Micro ATX chassis you can buy. It has the SFX power supply mount on the bottom of the motherboard tray. These cables are SO short they cannot go around a motherboard and make a ] shape. Its about 3 inches to short. And obviously you can't go across the motherboard if you have a real video card. Which I do. Incredibly disappointing. I would only buy this PSU if your case has the 24 pin motherboard tray and the PSU making a straight shot to one other. Otherwise it will be entirely to short.

2.0 out of 5 stars I DO NOT RECOMMAND PURCHASING THIS! FAULTY UNITS!
Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2022

Loud coil whine could be heard over 100% running fans. Super irritating and distracting. Returned and purchased a new one and had the same issue. Returned again and got a Cooler Master SFX 850 and it worked perfectly.

The EVGA RMA is also a pain to deal with. I think Amazon just has a load of faulty units in stock.
I DO NOT RECOMMAND PURCHASING THIS! Just find an alternative.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hot little PSU, and then it died.
Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2020
Size: 650WStyle: GMPattern Name: Power SupplyVerified Purchase
Pros:
- Available (or was, anyway)
- Nice Cables
- Silent operation until under load

Cons:
- Ran pretty hot, likely the byproduct of not running it's fans until under heavy load.
- Died within the first month of use

Comments:
PSUs do die, so I can't be too mad, there. For those interested, it had plenty of airflow as it was in a sm560 with vented side panel and properly mounted. I replaced the dead one with another of the same model that was sitting on my shelf waiting for the rest of a new computer's parts to come in. (With four people now all working from home and needing desks/monitors, I'm converting most systems to Small Form Factor to save as much space as possible).

***************************
The second unit is running fine so far, but has a noticeable ticking when the fan spins up. At full RPM it goes away, but as it ramps up or ramps down, it's pretty noticeable. Hoping not to have to return the second one too, as it's getting hard to find sfx power supplies...

2.0 out of 5 stars Very noisy coil whine
Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2021
Size: 850WStyle: GMPattern Name: Power SupplyVerified Purchase
In my system, this PSU was extremely noisy. I am running a 5700G with 6900xt on a ASRock Phantom Gaming ITX mb. The coil whine was insanely loud underload. I was disappointed because I own the 550GM and it is very quiet with the exact same setup. 550W is not enough to run both CPU and GPU flat out so I ordered the Coolermaster v850, hopefully it will pair better.

2.0 out of 5 stars LOUD

While it meets the 80+ Gold claims the fan constantly screams during normal operation with any load. The fan speed scales with load but between a 110W and 300W load fan noise was equal. If you are deaf this unit may be for you.

2.0 out of 5 stars very short cables

i don't really have a full in depth review for this product yet. but, i will say that beware the length of the cables. i sat down to build my new pc today. and, upon reaching this step in the process, found that the 24 pin cable for the motherboard, and the the cpu power cable are both too short to run to their connections. leaving my build dead in the water until i find extensions or replacement cables altogether.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cable too short
Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2020
Size: 450WStyle: GMPattern Name: Power SupplyVerified Purchase
Seems like it could be a decent power supply, if the 24 pin atx cable (and other cables) wasn't so short. Just 4 inches would have been enough. But now I have to buy another part just to make this useable. It wouldn't be so bad if they listed the length of the cable on the box, but they don't.

Received item and it worked just fine but was missing cables. Power cable, Sata cables, and molex cables. Other than that it works just fine

Coil whine buzzing sound when under load, was playing battlefield. Buzzes with or without fan turning, and only when rendering 3D scenes, menus was fine.

I had to order and pay for longer cables so I can use my ATX motherboard. Still waiting to put together the new system.

2.0 out of 5 stars Annoying coil whine
Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2020
Size: 550WStyle: GMPattern Name: Power Supply
I bought this unit from amazon warehouse but i am a bit disappointed. The intermittent coil whine is annoying, even my old power supply is more silent.
EDIT: I installed a graphic card and the sound got even worst. I am worried that the unit could damage other components of my pc so I decided to remove it.
