Works like a charm!

This is an amazing PSU from evga. I had a 750w psu before but it wasn't enough and my computer kept encountering random shut downs while gaming. As I was looking for a new sfx psu my decision boiled down to the cooler master sfx v850 gold or this from evga. Even though the cooler master was about $50 cheaper, I went with this one because it would be delivered sooner. And I do not regret it one bit. After replacing my psu I have encountered zero issues. I've also heard about the cooler master unit having eratic fan curves and noise issues with the fan. The fan on this evga unit is whisper quiet, only audible when stress it. If you're on the fence about buying this psu for your system, pull the trigger. You won't regret it.

Incredibly Short Cables

I purchased the smallest Micro ATX chassis you can buy. It has the SFX power supply mount on the bottom of the motherboard tray. These cables are SO short they cannot go around a motherboard and make a ] shape. Its about 3 inches to short. And obviously you can't go across the motherboard if you have a real video card. Which I do. Incredibly disappointing. I would only buy this PSU if your case has the 24 pin motherboard tray and the PSU making a straight shot to one other. Otherwise it will be entirely to short.

Great EVGA quality.
Replaced my all dependable Corsair SF750 with this 850W SFF power supply from EVGA
I think I needed a bit more power for my RTX3080ti and any upcoming DDR5 system build in small case
Its power cables are very stiff, making bending into form in a Lian Li 011 dynamic mini case a chore compared to the Corsair SF750, which cables have a more flexible fabric material.

The fan on very rear occasions can ramp up to about 90 percent without any reason, then revs down to silent mode after 30 seconds or so. Strange, my previous Corsair SF750 never did this

After reading on EVGA forums apparently, the fan ramps up when heated. It ramps up on me basically whenever. So I wonder what will happen in the summer!!
EVGA needs to fix this ECO fan nonsense and let the fan just run

Works, but runs warm, and has bad coil whine

EVGA power supplies have worked well for me in the past, so I went with this one this time around. Unfortunately, I had a couple issues with this one.

I noticed in another review that someone said "hot little PSU, then it died". Well, the PSU does eminate a pretty good amount of heat. I think this has to do with the "ECO mode", which shuts the PSU fan off at "low loads". On some EVGA PSUs, there's a switch to enable or disable this "feature", but on this one, there's not. You're forced to always use it. Personally, I'm not comfortable with this.

The other big issue is the coil whine. If you're going to have your PC on your desk, you're going to hear it. It can be really bad at times. This was what got me to return the power supply, and buy a Seasonic one instead, which does not have nearly as noticeable whine.

If you can get over the two issues I mentioned, the PSU should work well for you. But I was able to get the Seasonic one for basically the same price, and I would recommend it over this one.

Was very quick to set up and fit great in my Lian Li O11D Mini. The cables provided are better than what I have seen from competing brands. Everything worked great first try with no issues, until I launched a game to test all my new shiny parts.

The buzzing is awful, its loud enough that when you change certain settings in game (thus drawing more or less power) the pitch of the buzzing changes with it. The buzzing only happens under load, and is very clearly coming directly from the PSU. Pretty sad about this one, I've had EVGA PSU's in all of my builds and rock many of EVGA branded products.

I pretty much only wear noise canceling headphones when im gaming, but I may be due for a return regardless on this one :( steer clear for now.

3 star overall because everything else about this thing is great. Affordable, nice cables, solid construction.

For the good parts about this, it arrived very quickly and securely. The cables are thick and sturdy, and it arrived with screws. It comes with many different types that you'll need, including the unnecessary PERIF cables. This is where my praise ends.

Now, I originally was a bit happy to see the power supply was small, as it could mean I was saving space in my build. But not only is it so small that it can't be secured to a mid-tower case, but both the motherboard and CPU cables required me to order extension cables and extend my building time by two days. I'm baffled to think about what size build the manufacturer expected it to fit it with no problem.

You can see in my photo where the extension for the motherboard cable began. It is not very far up at all. The extension cable, by the way, is 9.5" and extended it to the motherboard without extra length left. This gives you some insight on how short the cable actually is.

If you're thinking of purchasing this, go ahead and put a pack of extension cables in your cart at well. You're gonna need them.

As of January 2021, coil whine remains an issue with the 850W model. It offers lots of power for SFX, but it sounds like a hot knife on dry ice under load. I recommend sticking with Corsair SFX PSUs unless your GPU absolutely needs 850W.

Noticed a burning smell about a month of use. Fortunately amazon's return policy still covers it.

As for the PSU itself, the cables are wrapped, not individually braided. Comes with several velcro straps. Since its an SFX psu, the cords are shorter than their ATX counterparts. Installation was pretty straightforward, and the cable lengths are fine for the 011 mini.
