I never really outgrew my love for fairy tales. When I started reading this, I had no idea how wrapped up I would be. I couldn't put it down as I was sucked into the world. There were a lot of nods to one of my favorite stories, which I'll not name, so it can come as a surprise for others as they read. Though, you will recognize some themes, and hints at items and character types, this story is very original. While I loved Esther Anna and Phillip, I was totally taken by the wendigo, Damien. I'm always drawn to the darker ones. It makes my heart happy to see this is just one part in what will be a series. I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Esther Anne has always been a noble woman. So when a demon frames her for the murder of her husband, the kingdom is shocked. No one suspects Princess Noelle, the girl with a perfect face but a demon in her heart. Threatened by Esther Anne’s purity, she does everything she can to get the Queen killed, and this leads to an epic showdown involving humans, demons, and fairies.
This story had so many ups and downs, I’m not sure where to begin. I love how the character of Esther Anne is portrayed, an innocent woman who just wants to do what’s right even if it means sacrificing herself to do so. In the end, it’s that innocence that saves her though it does get her into a heap of a lot more trouble when it comes to her fate with Damien. I’m looking forward to the next installment in the series to see how her wits get her out of her dilemma.
This book captivated me from the first page until the last. Author kept me wondering where the next plot was taking me. The ending had me guessing what's to come next and excited to find out in the next book.
The first thing I loved about this book was the vivid imagery and description that drew me in from page one. I love reading books that I can see everything taking place as if I were watching a movie. This is what happened to me throughout this book. Then I absolutely fell in love with the characters and the magic they created that kept off the page. I loved Esther Anna and the way that she carried herself and memorable character that she was. This book was absolutely a must read and I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
