5.0 out of 5 starsBest to preheat first, it is a diffuser first (dissipate heat)

Our gas stove is down for a bit until the new induction arrives. We are currently using a portable induction and had to buy one of these plates to make my coffee. Knowing the portable is not as efficient as a real cooktop, I've had to play with it a bit, so now as I'm cleaning my pot I place the plate on the portable induction to warm. My guess is that the plate is also a diffuser and doesn't generate nearly as much heat as a real induction bialetti (which I ordered).
Try different techniques, but it does seem to work best if the plate heats to 260 before placing the coffee pot on the plate, it can take 10 minutes to warm and that's why I preheat it while cleaning my pot from yesterday. Keep in mind that it is a diffuser first and will be a little slower than a direct connection between a real induction bialetti. It still works find for me.
