With today’s barrier to starting an Internet based business so low, the Internet is filled with hype about starting a business from the beach while sitting in a lounger and drinking Pina Coladas. Sadly, so many people believe this nonsense. It is refreshing to read a book about starting an Internet business that is all business and not marketing hype.
Early in the book, the author tries to draw a distinction between being an entrepreneur and a small business owner. Obviously, definitions and descriptions matter a lot. In my opinion, the author fails to make her case. But this is a small glitch in an otherwise great book.
I found the book to be easy to read and engaging. There is a good mix of the author’s origin story and her experiences building her online business. There is much we can learn from those ahead of us on the entrepreneurial journey.
A definite plus in the book is the author sharing the details of her annual 30 day productivity challenge. This is one piece of the book you definitely want to pay close attention to. The author has several other books that I have caught my eye, so I may just become a new raving fan.
This book is written by one of the best authors for Online Entrepreneurs I've found. I have invested in several of Connie Ragen Green's classes and she is a whirlwind of knowledge on the subject of making a living online. You can't go wrong doing yourself a favor and making an investment in purchasing all of her books. If you want to make a living online, Connie Ragen Green's books should be your first investment in your business.
Connie lays out the steps necessary to get going on your online empire. And there are few more qualified to teach this. If you are intrigued by the possibilities of starting your own business based on the Internet, get a copy of this and read it all the way through, fill the margins with notes, highlight like crazy, and follow Connie's recommendations for success!
I have read all of her books, this one is one of her best.
This book is a terrific read. Connie Ragen Green's challenges along the way make my worst times seem insignificant in comparison. Her triumph over personal adversity is inspiring, and her insights into what it takes to be a success in today's world give you a real, legitimate road map to follow!
Probably thousands of people every month think they’d like to start an online business. The trouble is, so many of these people never get started or they don’t follow through and do what it takes to succeed.
Doing What It Takes: The Online Entrepreneur’s Playbook is Connie Ragen Green’s rags-to-riches story (although she wasn’t in rags before she started her online business, she just wasn't earning the kind of money she wanted to earn or living the life she really wanted to live). But it has a big bonus – she includes a blueprint anyone can follow if they’re willing to do what it takes to build an online business that will allow them to live life on their own terms.
Now, I’d read most of Connie’s other books about Internet marketing before I started reading this one, and I know her personally, so I already knew much of her life story and how she came to Internet marketing many years ago. But this book tells things in greater detail than her other books, and when I finished reading it I thought, “Gosh. If Connie could stay focused and build such a lucrative online business with all the personal obstacles and challenges she’s faced, anyone can do it as long as they are willing to do what it takes to succeed. And there’s the rub again. Connie says she has no special talents (although, I think she’s being a bit modest in that regard), she just sticks with things and stays focused on her goals so she does the work it takes to keep building her business.
If you need inspiration to start your online business, and a plan for doing so, you will want to read this book as a starting point. Then you’ll want to check out many of the other books and mentoring services Connie offers. Just remember – if she can do it, you can do it. Let her show you how!
