This insurance is kind of a gimmick, kind of not, depending on context. What I mean is that it starts the moment I purchase the product but only covers damage from power surges for my countertop convection oven until the manufacture's warranty ends. Once the manufacture's warranty ends then it covers electrical/mechanical malfunctions like a reasonable warranty policy. For most people this is cash grab especially if you have a two or three year manufacture's warranty. Fortunately, (glass half-full/half empty paradigm) the product I purchased only has a 60 day warranty. That means, if needed, this extended warranty policy is a major win for me. Now whether I will need this and whether Asurion honours this policy in good faith is yet to be determined.
