How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I have been in a reading slump. I chose Celeste’s book because I knew I would have some laughs and this genre helps me with life perspective. Celeste has a section where she talks about her open heart surgery that touched me. My father had two operations and the describe gives when she’s coming out of the anesthesia, broke my heart. He dies a little over a year ago. The silent screams make me wonder how aware he was of us in the room. I feel Celeste has given me the gift of insight into a place my father went that he didn’t share. I’m grateful for that. I loved the entire book and would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you for sharing your stories.

3.0 out of 5 starsCrass, ridiculous, witty, opinionated, and oh look! A squirrel!
Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2019
I was really eager to get this book and to read it because I find Celeste’s posts on Instagram ridiculous and hilarious, my favorite combination. I have to be honest that I didn’t know what to expect, and I hadn’t done research on what the book was about. I expected humor, laughs, and some inside info into Celeste.

The book IS funny! I have snorted a couple times because her humor just catches me off guard.

I may be a bit of a tightwad, because some of her humor is just a bit crass for me. There is a lot of cussing, and I can’t say I love that, even though it is an honest window into her.

In the book, Celeste also addresses her ADD, and the impact it has had on her. I am so grateful she is putting a voice to ADD! However, I wish her editors had honed in a little bit in the flow of the book because it does feel a little spastic. Perhaps that’s part of the plan?

I appreciate her honesty. I appreciate her wit. I appreciate, “knowing her,” a bit. I don’t appreciate her putting down our President (no matter what, he’s still the leader), the cussing...but I’m glad I read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars READ THIS BOOK!This is now on my keeper shelf.

Loved her for years! I read this off and on the entire time I was in London, Paris, and Dublin. Celeste kept me company all the way back to San Francisco. Her honesty and humor laced stories held my attention. She’s someone that you can share a bottle of whatever is opened in the shelf, wearing sweats and T-shirt and binging on the Newest Prime TV show. Or she’s definitely the girl you want at Target when you forgot about the baby shower and need a dress. You invite her because Celeste will be frank, funny, and clever when she tells you that the peach chiffon does not look good with your hair.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love her on social media, book is disappointing

I’ve been following Celeste on Instagram and Facebook for a couple of years now and saw her stand up act in-person last year , she’s FANTASTIC in all these outlets. Funny, relatable and new kind of confidence I admire. So I was so stoked about her book that I pre-ordered it the first day it was allowed and waited the few months it took for the release. Unfortunately I’m so disappointed by the book, other than the occasional smile her humor just didn’t translate well for me into book form. And while I feel terrible saying it the book is boring and didn’t keep my attention :(. I’m giving 3 stars only because I love her everywhere else besides her book, the actual book I’d give 2 stars. I wanted to write this review so other Celeste fans aren’t as disappointed as me when it comes to reading her book.

This was a great book. It’s funny, of course, because look who wrote it! But it’s also really touching and insightful because Celeste is so honest with her ups and downs. It’s like talking to your best friend where you know she won’t judge you, no matter what you say. I thoroughly enjoyed it and gave it 5 stars, which I don’t give away too easily. I came away from this book with lots of laughs and a little bit more of a GAF attitude, thank you very much!

I enjoy Celeste's social media content so I just had to get this book to learn from a different perspective, and I love it. Very interesting, easy, and fun to read here and there.

5.0 out of 5 stars “If you like her then you should put a read on it.”

“This above all: to thine own self be true*” is Celeste’s true gift. Everyone always wants to get to know someone (whether in life or on the page or on the screen) who really knows themself, owns up to it and embraces it. She is honest, laugh out loud funny, and a gas (full of it apparently). Buy it. Read it. Own it. If for no other reason than to keep hot husband shirtless and in awe of his amaze-balls wife.

I love love this book I’m halfway through and I don’t want to to end. It is funny and and heartwarming and just a pleasure to read. I love Celeste Barber and her outlook on things. she is such an inspiration and a joy. Her stories are funny, sweet, sad, sometimes cringe worthy but they are real and always told candidly. I saw her live and I just love her! My only regret is not buying the book at her show so it could be signed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Skip the book but follow her in social media
Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2019

It’s actually surprising how ho-hum this book is. Some of it is funny, but a lot is just a retelling of her formative years and how she’s gotten where she is today, and since I’ve admired her on Instagram for a while, I give it 3 stars since I’m mildly interested in her autobiography. If I was rating it on funniness, I’d give it a 2 which is generous. I recommend following her on social media but I’d probably skip the book if you’re not interested in liberal politics, #metoo stories, and hearing about other people’s birth experiences. I think her antics on Instagram are hilarious, like pee-your-pants funny. The book was disappointing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Maybe a beach read

I very much wanted to love the book because Celeste Barber makes me laugh; her Instagram posts and even the Hello Fresh collaboration YouTube videos are really funny.

But, this, to me, read more like she jotted down notes on certain things that happened and relayed the notes to someone sitting there. I wish I knew how to better explain myself, I am trying. It reads less like a book and more like a topic-based rather than time-frame-based diary.

Parts were really funny, parts were interesting. It's just that I don't think it was particularly cohesive. And towards the end, it seemed like the editor told her to try to stretch it out for a couple of more chapters.
