I need a good m&p set to crush my cardamom pods. Wish I had the sense to hang on to my late dad’s set. Checked my local stores and they were either out of stock, or not what I wanted. I chose to purchase via amazon for the convenience and selection. No more running around to come back empty handed. This is a very sturdy set, basically 2 for 1. I like that the protective mat is slightly larger than the bigger side, so it’ll protect my granite countertops, and prevent the unit from sliding around.
The pestle feels good in my hand, and is just the right weight/balance for my hand that’s recovering from a January carpal tunnel surgery and trigger thumb release. I like that the conditioning instructions are printed on the box, which limits the amount of cardboard/paper waste.
I will update as needed; I must go and condition my new gadget. Hope this review helps. Images included are of the shallow and the deep side(s).

Conditioned this as recommended by the manufacturer; it slipped and slid despite the silicone mat — and when I used this to crush black cardamom pods; It still tends to slip and slide away from the silicone mat, so I pl axed something else under the silicone mat to ensure I did not scratch my granite countertops.
