2.0 out of 5 starsSkip The Non-Stick!
Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2021
I really hated having to give this product 2 stars. The Stainless Steel sauce pans and pots are actually awesome... Thick and heavy bottomed, great feel in the hand, easy to clean (if you know how to treat SS cookware), etc...
My big gripe here and the reason for the 2 stars is the non-stick cookware add-ons. I was hesitant that a cooking set could provide both quality SS cookware and even throw in a few good non-stick pans for the perfect round-out (I already have a couple cast iron pans). The main issue was that while the SS cookware was good, the nonstick (copper colored cookware in the ad) was absolutely garbage. And I don't mean that lightly. The whole point of this set is to have a solid base of good quality SS pans and a few good non-stick pans. It failed miserably in the latter.
I'm an educated and avid cook. I never used anything in excess of a low-medium heat on the non-stick cookware. yet It burned almost instantly. No sugars, no sauces, nothing that would create a caked-on burn like you see in my picture. In fact, the beginning of that deep burn that wouldn't clean off was created by simply slow cooking some hashbrowns in a high temp oil (Avocado oil) at a slow and steady heat for about 10 min. And from there on it just kept getting worse. And it happened in the other non-stick pans provided in different, but (what should be) acceptable circumstances.
I tried to reach out to Duxtop, but actually contacting someone from the company was impossible. I sent a message to the company, the seller, and through Amazon, and no one has responded back. It's been 3+ months.
Save your money. Duxtop makes good SS pans, but their overpriced and garbage non-stick add-ons are a marketing gimmick and worthless.
Here's what you need....
- A set of good quality SS pans. This is for your daily duty on sauces, soups, and braising meats with a pan sauce.
- A cast iron pan or two. This is for getting great sears on meat and certain vegetables, or long bakes.
- A cheaper non-stick (Tfal is good and cheap) pan for low heat simple cooking of things you don't want to use the oil you'd need the other pans to keep it from sticking (eggs, delicate fish, fried rice, etc...)
Funny enough, my $18 Tfal pan from Target is 3 years old and still works flawlessly. This POS from Duxtop at multiple times the price didn't last a couple weeks.
Skip this set. The non-stick that you're paying extra for is worthless and the company are liars and lack any semblance of customer service.
