Not as durable as it should be

I jump on a rubber mechanic's mat. I guess I'm pretty hard on a jumprope. I discovered the handle damage this morning. (I was wondering why I had such a bad jump yesterday, but thought I was just tired; it never occurred to me to look at the rope!) I assumed, with ball-bearing handles, there'd be no way to wear it out at that end. It's taken a beating, middle and ends. 40-45 min./day, 6 days/week for a little over a month. My licorice ropes lasted YEARS, and only wore out in the middle, where they hit the mat. I rebuilt the handles on this one today—it's still not too short—and am hoping if I lubricate them (as I did with the licorice ropes), I'll manage to extend its life. 🤞🏻Dang, I thought this rope was my forever-solution.
