Contrary to the older and unsupported Hoyle version that I purchased but had a bad activation code, this Encore version downloaded, activated, and worked just fine.

The cards will give you a headage looking at them. You cannot chouse other card designs or just plain cards without large numbers and to much color. You do not get a just pick person you look like. The last card game I purchased come with a simple background and typical card design. I do not want a bunch of flashy color. This version must have been designed by some executives relative.

Just what I wanted for my new laptop running Windows 11. Works without any glitches. Same look, variety of games, and characters with speech. On the "hard" skill level, it's even more difficult than the old Hoyle version... which just means the system cheats more. Haha! I still really enjoy it. If you liked the old Hoyle version, you'll like this one, too.

After you order it, you should receive an email saying:
Your games or software will be ready to download from Your Orders (<link>) immediately...
It was... sort of
You follow the link and then you have to push the View Item and then (yes,
there are more steps which the email never mentions but it should)
then you should see the download option.
This game will work on Windows 11.
This game is 2010 vintage, so don't expect the latest or greatest.
It also plays music when first started, but you can disable the background music after that.
However, it does play an annoying cash register (if you remember those) sound, which I haven't been able to turn off.
The games play well and there is a lot of variety.
It was a Hoyle product initially as the opposing players are the same.
It doesn't require an account unlike the M$ gamess that come with the OS.
This is a reasonable alternative.

I was leery of buying based on all the negative reviews, but when I got my new PC recently, I found my old CD was damaged so this was the only option. I purchased and downloaded via Amazon and installed on Windows 10 without any issues. I run this game in "window" mode (not full screen) as the graphics are better for my eyes. This is as of 1/13/2021.

Not sure what the issues are in downloading as others have stated as I had none. Tip: If for some reason you can get it running after install on Windows 10, you can try running it with compatibility mode for previous Windows versions

Great Software, but a Dicey Download

The download timed out four times. This is highly unusual, as I have 100Mbs business internet service at this locaton. Fortunately, the Windows "resume" feature worked flawlessly each time, and ultimately the file was fully downloaded. The installation completed quickly and without issues. This was an upgrade from our original 2005 version of the software, and we are very pleased with the newer product. As an IT executive, I am quite familiar with download "time outs". For folks with less experience, the time out might be frustrating to them and cause them to blame the actual software. This would be unfortunate, because, once installed, the software significantly exceeded our expectations.
