I adore this jacket--fits better than any I've had (other than another Columbia jacket). However, it had a sickly sweet chemical smell, which took five washings in hot water, detergent, and white vinegar, to remove. Do manufacturers do this to keep insect and mold damage from occurring? Please know, this stuff is toxic to people, too, and for someone with a keen sense of smell, unbearable. From Bangladesh, not China, but it seems Bangladesh has adopted the same ghastly practice of treating their products with toxic chemicals. What will it take? Legislation? Returned products? I've returned many products, even books, for this reason.
