The first fryer I received did not turn on, but I didn’t take a star away for that because things happen, the replacement process was super easy, and I received a new one right away. This is my first air fryer, so I can’t compare it to other fryers. I held off for a long time before trying one as I have a very small kitchen. Finding a way to store this involved a complete kitchen redo, but I am glad I did the work to fit it in because I find it to be a useful addition to my kitchen arsenal.
This one is very simple to operate, and the LCD panel is intuitive. I haven’t been able to test all of the preprogramed cycles yet, but we have used It enough as a family that I fell comfortable rendering judgment! It cooks frozen food beautifully. Fried fish, corn dogs, chicken tenders etc. come out great. They are significantly crispier than in the oven, in half the time. Most of those foods were prepared by my 20 year old son, who is enamored enough as I write this to be attempting a pizza bagel in it!
I am a vegetarian and have tried this with a selection of fresh and frozen vegetables. They have all been delicious, quick to prepare, and with a texture similar to roasting in the oven, but in less time. The only reason I didn’t give this five stars is that with items that aren’t pre-fried, like chicken nuggets, etc, the food didn’t come out with the crispy, crunchy texture the name “fryer” implies.
One unexpectedly fabulous thing I think anyone considering this purchase should know, is the clean-up. It is a SNAP. Pull out the tray at the bottom, give it a rinse and them wipe out the well underneath in case any oils or crumbs fell through.
The pizza bagel is done in the time it took me to write this, and it is a hit.
