I'm an Anker fan, but these were (surprisingly) disappointing

If you keep your cables plugged in all the time, these adapters will be fine. However, I need to plug and unplug these twice per week (they are used with a USB presentation "clicker"). A short time after pulling the adapters out of the USB-C jack in my laptop, the casing of the adapter came off (see photo). I don't recommned these if you have a similar use case.

I'm finding that while my newer computing gear exclusively has USB-C for charging and data, newly purchased "established products" like headphones and other accessories may still have USB-A terminations for data and/or power -- which in turn requires me to carry twice as many cables / wall plugs. I was and am VERY HAPPY AGAIN FOR ANKER PRODUCTS! These small adapters are exactly what I needed to be able to use the "plug in to talk with your accessory" small USB-A "dongle" (for lack of a better / less 1990s techie term) into computers which only have USB-C ports. Funny thing is that the accessory itself has USB-C for charging, so this was only needed to initialize the accessory for its first use and for its "smart connection" integrations into software triggers and such. The small form factor is PERFECT as I can stow the "dongle" with the adapter in the sized-to-perfectly-fit accessory case cable storage, so it's there if I need it in the future.

TOP FIVE REASONS I FILTER FOR BRAND = ANKER

[1] COLOR OPTIONS of braided nylon on Anker cables -- the variety of color options allow me to color-code my cables by termination -- e.g., lighting white or light grey, micro USB dark grey, USB-C red, others / one-offs black -- so at a glance I can make sure I have all that I need for the gear I've packed for day / project

[2] DURABILITY AND LENGHT OF SERVICE in extreme temperature variation of Anker cables -- I have several Anker cables fished through my care for regularly- and occasionally-used items like my cell phone (always) and accessories like my Kindle (on roadtrips), my Switch Light (roadtrips and/or friends needing USB-C for their phone), etc. Where I live and tend to travel throughout the year, these cables can spend days / weeks / months in very high temps (over 100*F) or very low temps (at / below freezing). [5] CABLES INCLUDE VELCRO WRAP -- While this is a small detail, it is a very VERY helpful one particularly for cables which are frequently stowed and deployed for use -- allows for tie-up of excess when being deployed and quick coiling and wrap for storage / travel. Also handy when using multiple cables from / to same terminals, as can use along the length of the cables to "bundle" and manage as a set.

Great construction, secure connection

These these are just wide enough for a standard USB plug, but narrow enough to sit side-by-side in a Macbook Pro's twin ports. So here is my story.... I didn't pay attention and bought the wrong gender connection. I meant to buy female USB-C to Male USB-A and when they arrived I was bummed. There were going to go back, BUT suddenly I learned they were the RIGHT thing to have.....

My Android phone (S20 FE) stopped sensing touch while out of town. The digitizer died but the screen and everything else worked fine, but no touch no use. (Skip to ** below if you don't want to hear the full story)

I was surprised to learn that T-Mobile ONLY carries or can even get 128GB storage versions of most of their phones and even the BestBuy had to order one with more storage (it wouldn't be in the store before I leaving town). If you buy a flagship phone that you expect to keep for 4-6 years you DO NOT want to buy the minimum storage that can't be upgraded.

I was out of luck and suddenly in the 1990's without a cellphone while out of town! I had to travel home without a GPS and yes, it is possible, but not a welcome idea. I downloaded multiple offline maps, covering the full trip, to the Google Maps app on my Samsung tablet. That gave me GPS support and I downloaded some Fridman podcasts so I was set for my long drive! Having a spare digital device was really helpful and reduced the stress. (We are SO dependent on devices these days.)

After getting home and searching around I was reminded that OTG was a possibility for a phone hack. I plugged in this adapter and then attached my wireless mouse to it and voila! I was controlling my phone with a mouse using the OTG feature. I bought a Samsung A54 G on sale for not much more than fixing the S20 (eventually it will be my spare phone).

Because I could now control the degraded S20 I used Samsung's Smart Switch to transition over! The A54 G even supported an SD card (my main reason for picking it in this era of internal-only storage) so I moved my SD card over from the S20.

Moral of the story. Consider keeping one of these connectors and a USB mouse with you to control your digital device in a pinch and also have a spare cheap phone as backup.

great converter to reuse older cables

I was able to convert old USB-A to USB-C cables into USB-C to USB-C. My intent was to repurpose cables I already have instead of buying new cables. The cable was charging my phone at about 800mA (measured using Ampere app on android). I wouldn't expect "Fast" or "Super Fast" charging (though these cables couldn't do it) but it will at least charge your devices and allow you to reuse cables you may have in a drawer somewhere.

The indicator light is a nice touch as well.

I am unable to validate any manufacturer's claims about data (if any).
