How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsNice incremental upgrade to the Z7-1 at an attractive lower initial base price...
Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2021
Been a Z-7 owner since first release. Also own Canon 5DS-R, 5DMKII.
Generally Why Z7-line?
- A+ still image quality (I shoot RAW and edit in Photoshop)
- A+ ergonomics & best menus in business (not perfect, but pretty great)
- Assignable buttons = fantastic
- View finder and rear screen are A+
- Silent/stealth operation is perfect.
- Z lenses and N-Z adapter = phenomenal optics. Currently using all favorite Z, G, Zeiss, Sony E, Canon EOS, SIRUI anamorphic lenses no problem. Cannon lenses via slightly temperamental/flawed Techart EF>Z adapter (will not work in pure MF mode!).

Why to upgrade to Z7-II?
- Faster in-camera computing (2nd processor), generally snappier operation, faster, more accurate auto focus.
- Better video (up to 4k 60p 10 bit in cam)
- Slightly longer lasting batteries (but will NOT work with Z7-1 batteries), even though the new batts will charge in the old charger.
- 2 card slots - but not 2 slots of the same kind...a slightly annoying, but also interesting pair of XQD/CFEx & SD. So if using CFEx, second card will always be much slower...This design choice was a compromise...give new shooters option to run faster CFEx cards for high end video and raw bursts, retain XQD compatibility, provide SD option as primary or backup because it's smaller and fits. Future will be two CFEx/XQD slots or two of some new smaller version of the CFEx.

Negatives:
- Still no Z pancake 24mm 1.4 that would make this the ultimate "beyond film Leica M" stealth travel cam. BTW: the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Ultra-Compact is fantastic at 16mm...and no-brainer inexpensive...but only DX rez. If you need stealth, that is the way to get it currently. Just carry the Z 24mm 1.8 in your pocket/pack for high rez full frame shots.
- Wish all Z lenses had an assignable ring controller (like the kit 24-70) that can be mapped to F stop. F-stop control should ALWAYS be on the lens, PERIOD!!!
- Why are all the native Z lenses about the same length as the G's + FTZ adapter? Seems like there are actually ZERO native Z lenses yet. They should be 1" shorter.

3.0 out of 5 starsAmazing Camera
Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2021
I received this Z7II yesterday and immediately put it through its paces.
There seems to be nothing left out in this camera. So why only three stars?
Nikon has made the documentation only available to download off their
website. I cannot print a page out of the PDF file for some sort of strange
reasoning on the part of Nikon's engineers. Once I got the camera I would not
send it back I like it so much. Had I know how difficult it would be to use the documentation
though I likely would not have purchased another Nikon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unbalanced
Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2022

Great camera
EXCEPT
With the FTZ adapter handling unbalanced and clumsy...
No I will not give up my stable of Nikon lenses
Body itself weights same as my 7000...
Addition of FTZ significant and weight distribution a real issue...
Both displays clear...back display could use more articulation...
Buying new lenses...excellent choice otherwise

1.0 out of 5 stars Nikon Z7ii Camera Stopped working after two weeks!!!
Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2021
Set: w/ 24-70mm lensStyle: Camera Only
I am retired and have owned several Nikon cameras since I was a teenager. I have been a very loyal customer all these years. But my experience with the Z7ii has shaken my confidence in Nikon. For the first two weeks the camera worked flawlessly. I planned a road trip around taking photos with the camera but just as I got 1,000 miles from home I got an error message when I turned the camera on: "Lens initialization failed. Turn camera off and then on again." Of course, turning the camera off and on did not solve the problem. I called Nikon support, and this is where I really lost confidence in Nikon. I talked to two different support people over the course of 45 minutes or so. There were also followup emails. The support people did not know the camera! For example, I was told to turn the aperture ring on the lens to f22 or f32. There is no aperture ring! And how come they don't know that f22 is the highest? I could go on but the bottom line is that customer support was no help. I tried all of their suggestions but the camera was useless. And you know the worst thing about this experience was that not once did any of the Nikon people apologize. Why couldn't they say "I'm sorry that this is happening." My advice if you are going to buy this camera, make sure that you can bring it back to the dealer for a full refund if it fails within a month or so.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY MIRRORLESS FROM NIKON
Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2021
Set: w/ 24-70mm lensStyle: Camera Only
My Z6 came with a glitch in the screen so I could not see what my settings were. I sent it in for repair and they sent it back to me without it fixed, so I sent it in for repair again and they sent it back to me saying they could not find anything wrong with the camera again. I now have a camera I cannot see the settings for that is still brand new that I cannot use, cannot return, and cannot apparently get fixed. If you are going to buy a mirrorless, buy from sony or another company that has experience creating GOOD QUALITY products that actually work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sin documentación.
Reviewed in Mexico on April 20, 2023
Set: BodyStyle: Camera OnlyVerified Purchase
