Great PSU

This is an overkill power supply; however, I bought this because I was getting super annoyed with my old Corsair AX1200i power supply creating an annoying fan screeching noise when under load. My current setup is an AMD Ryzen 9 5950x and an Nvidia RTX 3090. Plugged this in and instantly noticed how much quieter it is compared to the Corsair AX1200i. Virtually inaudible at load and on idle. I highly recommend this PSU if you value a quiet rig.

Great Product, Until It Killed My Motherboard

I bought the Dark Rock Pro 1500 Watt for its titanium rating, and the protection / longevity of my parts. The PSU was bought on November 12, 2020 and died April 2, 2021 taking my motherboard with it.

I had high expectations for the product, the build and construction was exceptional, to me this was the "end game" power supply to power my 3090 FE. Now I'm awfully unsure about the quality that BeQuiet stands behind, the product cost me a motherboard and varying amounts of data lost in my hard drives. I expected more and the same people who have bought this power supply deserve more.

Until I get an RMA with compensation for damages caused by the power supply the overall rating will remain a 1/5.

Simply the best out there. Yes, I am prejudice for German made products, but look at the quality of those products. When it comes to anything mechanical Germany has a way of providing the best made, and recently anyway, the most efficient ones out there. I have used many power supplies over the years and all you have to do is put a "be quite" next to any other brand to see the quality of the unit on the outside and the supplied cables.

These are high-quality power supplies and they back that with a 10 year guaranty on the high end units and 5 years on all the others. So they are constructed to last a long time. Not the cheapest but simply the best.

They also fulfill all the energy directives - Energy Star, ErP, WEEE, RoHs.

The unit is beautiful, which is perfect for being hidden behind a PSU shroud. The unit has immense wattage, which is perfect for being plugged into a surge protector with a bunch of other stuff at my desk. The unit has a silent fan, which is perfect for all of the other non silent fans that don’t like being drained out.

The unit has individually sleeved cables. Hold on a second I don’t think I said that right. The unit has individually sleeved WIRES. They’re also super long, which is perfect when stuffing the long a** spindly cables I to the PSU shroud with a long a** PSU.

Honestly BeQuiet… can I swap you for some normie sleeved cables that aren’t eight feet long? I don’t have a walk in closet to store the cable excess.

Looks like I'm the first person to leave a review about the non-Pro Dark Power 12 series here, as it's very new. Although the two series are combined in the same Amazon listing, they are different, and even made by different OEMs. The Pro version has a digital platform, and the non-Pro is analog.

The power supply is very nice: looks good, everything is machined and finished well, the cables are safely thick yet flexible enough for routing, stealth black in color. I like that the fan is always on, as it continues cooling the various internal components without being audible at low to medium loads--and even high loads it is quiet. At initial power-up or waking from sleep, the fan very briefly spins up so you know it's working, and then slows down to low speed where you can't hear it.

By default the power supply is in multi-rail mode. If you do not install the jumper or the switch, it will stay in multi-rail mode, which is advisable for over-current protection for your components. I did not install my jumper cable and switch; left them in the box.

There is quiet and uniform electrical noise from the PSU that can be heard from about 1-2 feet away in a silent room when the PSU is out of the computer case. Once the PSU is in the case or at 4+ feet away outside the case, it's completely inaudible. I've had no audible coil whine yet with the PSU or my graphics card. Basically I never hear the PSU at all, except that initial brief (maybe 1 second long) fan spin up at the start.

For anyone worried about the power switch still providing power to RGB lights on the motherboard as has been reported for DPP12--the non-Pro version does not do this, I have tested it. Flipping the power switch to O, no power is provided to the motherboard. Any lights that are on dim and turn off within about 1-2 seconds (once the capacitors in the PSU are drained of accumulated charge.)

All in all, I'm very satisfied with this power supply. High efficiency, super quiet, great over-current protection with multi-rail design, and the reviews have been great for it with very low voltage ripple and deviation values. So far A+ for noise characteristics at Cybenetics, only 18.92dBa average noise output; awaiting a full review to be posted.

I have a computer with an i9 12900k and 3070. I wanted to make sure that the PSU had no problems keeping up, and this does the trick. I have made over 20 computers using these be quiet PSUs, and I definitely recommend it. Having the 80+ titanium certification is a big deal to me, since having a simple power surge or outage is could ruin your entire computer. The PSU also does its job at staying quiet, never had to push it too hard, but I have never been able to point out that the PSU was making more noise than my be quiet fans.
