How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

3.0 out of 5 starsGreat budget power supply
Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2022
This is a reliable and very quiet power supply. The only issue is that it only works with the cables sent with it. If you are looking to customize the cables with something nice, they will not work. I've tried with cables from Thermaltake and corsair.

5.0 out of 5 stars It didn't fri my PC. So that's guud.

Couldn't tell you if my life depended in it, who Pystar was before this buuut hey.... Besides going from (non) to Modular which was a lil bit of a hassle. The dang thang is Rock Solid, plenty of cords, and it hasn't fried my PC as of yet.... Will keep updated. But I swapped my 450w for the 1000w psu to power my 2080 Super, with a 3080Ti due to arrive in a few day. The difference has blow me away. I thought I had a 650w as my PSU..... Rip. But with the 2080 Super eating a whopping 230w Overclocked, makes me wonder how my PC ever turned on to begin with. Seriously excited for this 3080Ti can't wait to see what I can pull out of it with the help of Pysters PSU! (Cough) or watch it burn it to cinders#🤔 guess we'll have to see.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing for brand I never heard of before

First thing I did being something I don't recognize is crack it open, warranty be damned. Internally no corners seem to have been cut, and it lacks the usual lazy flubs -- like untrimmed through-hole pins -- I'm used to seeing in lesser brands. The fit and finish inside the unit is IMHO better than some bigger names out there, because how many normal people will ever see the insides? It's an extra -- some would say unnecessary -- step that IMHO bespeaks professionalism.

The simple power supply tester is something cheap, simple, and very much appreciated. It's little details like this that show actual care for the product and the buyers. It likely cost them very little, but adds a ton of value to the purchase.

I did some load testing under a IR sensor hitting it hard with SoTT's benchmark on a continuous loop with a Xeon e3 1270 v3 and a GTX 770 (hottest of my spare parts on the bench), with a slew of spare hard drives attached (and set to remain spun up) to increase the load. Got it up to 612 watts from the wall (testing the 650 watt semi-modular version) and it handled it with no obvious heat issues, excess noise, etc.

I've seen some reviewers claiming it doesn't have the +4 connect for the CPU, I don't know if that's specific to certain models, if they fixed this, or if the other reviewers are just blind, but the one I got has the usual +8 that can be split into the two +4 for the CPU, that's part of the non-modular connects.

My only complaint would be that they have a SATA power run hard-cabled on the semi-modular. Not a big deal to tuck out of the way, but really it's not a part moving forward that should be fixed, even on a semi-modular design. 24 pin mobo? Fine. +8 that's 4/4? Fine. SATA? Not so much.

Overall though I'm very impressed with the build quality and attention to detail. $53 for a semi-modular 80+ 650w supply that actually seems well built, WITH a testing plug? Given the choices out there I'd pick this all day every day. I've seen big names -- Antec and Corsair for example -- who don't provide this much value at double the cost.

If their goal is to take on the big boys, they're off to an amazing start!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great PSU for the price
Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2022

This is a great PSU for the price. It runs very quiet and supports 1000w for a lot of the newer GPUs. It is made of great material and fit perfectly in my case. There are some negative reviews about it not coming with a lot of cables but that's false. It came with more than enough cables for my entire set up and then some extras. There are also some negative reviews about it frying certain hardware but that's false as well. They probably didnt read the manual. Near each of the ports it states what the port is used for (Ex. CPU, PCIe slot, SATA, etc.). Read the manual and youll be just fine. 5 stars for me!

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs to either come with more cables or ability to purchase cables seperately
Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2021

Bought the ES1000. So far, it is has been a great PSU! It may not be one of the bigger brand names, but it is still quality built! It has no frills, like RGB fans, which is fine with me because i'm looking for function over form. This was decently priced, given that it's a 1000W PSU (at the time of this review, it was 135.99 with a $40 off instant discount, so like $96).

The one thing that I am concerned with is how many cables it comes with. If your running multiple GPUs, then what it comes with won't work for you. Fortunately, I'm only running one 1080GTX because most of my games don't really support SLI, but now I need an extra one of the double PCIe cabled that it comes with because the single one is useless (most NVidia cards now take an 8-pin plus a 6-pin plug anyways). So maybe if they either offered to include two of the PCIe double cables, or create a seperate listing for individual cables so that you can purchase more (it would be nice to have another molex cable than the single cable supplied). There are more receptacles on the PSU than the number of included cables, so it should work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great but not enough cables
Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2022

Works great and modular parts are nice. But it doesn't come with enough to fill all the pcie ports if you want to add more you have to try and buy separately. Would rather have had a full amount and pay a little more than try and track down a compatible pcie power cable. 3 is good for 1 video card now a days but if you want to add more... It won't be good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good mid grade power supply.

The modulation of the power wires is very nice, have this on my other computer build and knew it was a must when I needed to replace my older computer build PSU that died. I didn't want to buy a higher grade or more name brand product at $100 or more for similar size and ease of installation clutter. Got this unit at a good price and after feeling the quality of the assembly and wires it looks like it will last a good many years, plus a 10 year warranty! Might see how that works out later but hopefully wont have to. The length of the wires is good, plenty of extra for my standard sized computer layout. Wish the SATA power cables were bent 90deg instead of straight out but then it is a good PSU for the price, can't be to picky. The power cable is nice and soft, not super soft like an Apple computer power cord but still very flexible, a great plus in my opinion. I would look into this brand again on my next computer build.
