Wow! Tiny but amazing!

My dog and I walk in the woods every day and I have been frustrated with trying to take pictures with my phone. I've wanted a gopro kind of video camera for ages but they are so expensive. Then I stumbled upon this little gem and had to try it out. Trying to take pictures while my dog wants to go inspect things at the other end of the leash has meant I haven't even bothered trying to take pictures of anything.

I'm really happy with it! It was easy to get started, to get the memory card formatted, etc.

I can't believe how tiny it is. But it seems pretty capable for what it is. I like the image stabilization, and I'm glad I got the pro version so I can have an external mic. The built in one picks up mainly me fiddling with the camera, lol, but that might be a setting that I haven't gotten to.

I haven't tried the remote control you wear on your wrist. And I like that if it's recording video, after a set time it will stop the video and automatically start a new recording, so they aren't too long.

It came with 2 rechargeable batteries which is really nice.

So basically, it's affordably priced, comes with straps and a waterproof case and 2 batteries, and even more stuff, is really easy to use, and seems to do a decent job. It has image stabilization, which is better than my phone.

The app is not that great. It crashes a lot but I don't really need it since it has a touch screen on the back.

Overall, I'm thrilled that I found this teeny action camera!

I really wanted to like this and hoped it would be a great replacement to the absurd $400 overpriced bricks that are riddled with issues, but it appears these Akaso models suffer heavily for their reduced price. This is the second model I have tried and both had awful battery life - not just a little bit, but to a point where I never got better than 25% of the advertised time these should last for. Furthermore, even when shooting in 4K30FPS mode, 4K mind you, the quality playback when you download it to a computer, has to be 480p at best. Everything is blurry, grainy, and just terrible looking - especially if you go into shadows and aren't in 100% direct sunlight the whole time.

The front screen on my unit didn't work and never once powered on. There wasn't a menu or setting on the entire thing that could make that screen come on.

My particular unit was a complete gamble if it would even power on and stay on. It would freeze numerous times during startup and have to be power cycled again. It would freeze during it's own card formatting process, despite using the exact brand and card the manufacturer themselves recommend for use. And then it would start powering itself off after less than a minute of being powered on, even if you were in the middle of selecting settings, with a perfectly charged battery.

Wide lens mode is heavy fisheye. Narrow mode is not narrow at all. Don't bother trying to use this for any sort of moderate closeup work ~2-3ft of subject.

Accessories are plentiful but they need to be. Half of them are so stiff and impossible to attach the camera to that you just have to throw them back in the box anyways.

Absolutely bummed and disappointed.

I was surprised how good the camera was considering the quality, function, and ease of use so overall a good value. I purchased to record birds on my feeders so Wow! Some amazing videos and photos from the camera. I used the motion detection and adjusted the photo quality for the shoot so was sue-rises the battery lasted all day. We even caught a few bird species we didn’t know we were feeding. We are pleased with the purchase and overall experience so would recommend the purchase. The wife is counting down the days to Spring, arrival of the hummingbirds and bird bath videos.

A quality action camera featuring video and still shots

This is my second Akaso Brave 4 camera. The first one lasted 5 years and successfully went on more than a dozen scuba diving trips around the world. Took it down to as much as 100 feet without any problem (inside the waterproof housing). The first one finally stopped working this last fall.
I got the new Akaso Brave 4 Pro as a replacement and it arrived early this year. It has several new features including an underwater mode to help with the loss of color when diving, a set of four digital magnifications (field of view settings, like zoom) and image stabilization. It has already gone to Antarctica and where I used it to shoot video of wildlife (penguins) and underwater (with housing) at a shipwreck. It is working fine so far. The controls have been updated and become even simpler due to the forward facing second display that removes one of the legacy Brave 4 buttons. I really like this camera which is why I bought a second one. And did I mention that I believe it is economical compared to other cameras with similar features. So why only 4 stars overall? You need to change or recharge the battery after each use - expected and simple (I carry multiple batteries so that I do not have to wait for recharging). But each time you remove and reinstall the battery, the date/time resets to factory and you have to go into the settings and change it back to the current date/time. If they would resolve this one annoyance, then it would get a full 5 stars overall from me.

This is my third AKASO action cam and the best so far to date that I have owned. I bought the Brave 4 Pro to have another action cam handy to record our upcoming Disney Cruise trip. I have really been impressed with the value of the AKASO brand action cameras as they do everything I need them to do at an affordable cost over other the brand name. The camera is loaded with features, has 4K resolution and stabilization, great image quality, good battery life, and comes with a ton of accessories. The waterproof case just works and have used it for swimming and snorkeling. The wireless wrist remote is just fantastic and convenient. The only gripe may be the audio quality could be better but is acceptable and expected for the small built-in microphone. No hesitation to recommend for the average user out there looking for a value 4K action camera.

We took this Akaso camera on our trip to Australia last year. My son used it to take underwater pictures and videos when we went for snorkeling in the great barrier reef. The camera took some really high-quality 4k photos and videos making our trip memorable. The camera came with multiple attachments that came in handy. I was impressed how watertight the case was with not a single drop of water making in when taken underwater. I would recommend to others.

For the price, this camera is pretty incredible. I've been very impressed with the image quality, the stabilization and pleased with all the extra kit that came with it. I've used it swimming, snorkeling, diving down to about 15 meters, attached to a bike and on a hand held stick. The waterproof case is great, the underwater footage is ok (small sensor so not great low light) but is fine with an external light, and it's pretty easy to use.

2 things I don't like which drop a star. One, the selfie screen on the front of the camera is kind of a joke. Very dim, poor color, difficult to see. It's a gimmick, nothing more. 2. every time you swap the batteries you have to reset all of the date and time settings which is irritating as heck.

The Brave 4 Pro was the best camera at my price point. I've done a lot of research on action cameras. This is my 3rd one-
1. Lightdow LD6000
2. Victure 4K 60FPS AC940
3. Brave 4 Pro.
Great in the daylight, but like most if not all action cams. not good in low light. I use my camera solely for my 25 minute (each way) daily bike commute.
The 5x zoom and high battery capacity on the Pro (2x1350mAh Batteries) sold me on this camera. I've had it for a little over a month and it has been exactly what I wanted. I use it in the cold upstate NY winters with no issue.
I bought this camera after finding out my Victure camera had no waterproof case replacement (the camera was discontinued- I understand why). And the Victure camera would randomly turn off while recording. AKASO has easily purchased replacement parts and does not randomly turn off.

So far so good! I have only been able to try the camera out with a couple pics and a video and they turned out fine. I'm hoping to try it out while skiing soon, and then I can add to my review. The camera came with 2 batteries, chargers, and a lot of accessories, which is great! It is very cute, lol! I have never had an action camera and I don't know much about advanced camera features, but hope to learn more with this camera and use it skiing, biking, snorkeling and more...very excited!
